Reverse to Drive Shifting Issue
I have a new 2024 M4 Convertible and I've noticed most times when I shift from Reverse to Drive the car DOES NOT actually go into "drive" (first gear). I have to move the shifter left and right to get it to engage in gear.
Is this common? A known issue? fixes? Thanks in advance... |

You sure you're holding the brake enough for it to recognize it's being held for the shift?
I don't think I've ever had a problem with it not recognizing the lever is being moved. Make sure you're moving it I guess..."enough" over to the right for it to recognize a shift. |

I'm pretty sure I hold the break long enough. I go thru the shifting motion and then when I switch to give it gas, the engine revs because its in neutral and not gear.
In fairness, I am going thru the shift motion fairly quickly. Almost feels like the "drive-by-wire" is delayed and wanting me to be more deliberate and hold the shift longer. I never had this kind of issue with my 2015 M4 convertible. |

Its all computer bs... Like any other computer, disconnect the power for 10 minutes and see if it fixes it.
Under the trunk floor, you'll find the battery. You'll need a 10mm socket to remove the terminal. Do not accidentally close the trunk after disconnected the battery. I usually toss a big towel over the lower mechanism just incase I forget and slam it. |
