Jahre M3 - How special is it?
I am currently waiting for an allocation for a 23 G80 Competition xDrive. It is heavily optioned with the carbon seats and brakes. As of right now I know it will probably be around 12 months before it is delivered. Just a few days ago my dealership informed me of an available Jahre edition in Techno Violet with a $20k markup but will probably be delivered in September or October. After running some calculation the cost of this car will be the same as my build. The only downside is that it does not have the carbon buckets on the build sheet but it does have the carbon brakes. It seems like the dealership has already submitted the build and they are waiting for a production date. At this point, the markup doesn't bother me much but I was hoping to have the carbon seats. I'm currently on the fence about giving up my build and going for the Jahre, but I'm wondering if it is truly special enough to make the move. I'm sure if I don't act fast it will be spoken for. What are your thoughts and does anyone know if the standard seats in the Jahre will be the same as what I would see in a standard G80, just with the special edition stitching? I like the idea of having a very limited vehicle but there's just something about those carbon seats...
I'll also note that I posted a couple weeks back about potentially buying a used (800 miles) Frozen Portimao Blue G80 Compeition xDrive with a $15k markup. I procrastinated and it quickly sold and I kicked myself for passing it up so I am anxious to get my hands on one of these. |

It seems like money isn’t a problem for you. So my opinion is get the one you can bring home sooner! Plus you can always keep your order and sell the Jahre for your optimal build with the carbon buckets in 12 months.

I still see G80/82 at MSRP, for order. $20k is a giant markup. If I remember correctly, the previous Jahre editions, don't hold the value much better than the standard cars. $15k markup, on a used car, is also out there. If you want carbon buckets seats, they can be added after the fact, for a measly $22,000 a pair. The Jahre is already spec'd so you don't get to pick your own color. I would start calling around, and putting my name on more lists.

The 50th anniversary Jahre M3 is definitely not $20k above MSRP special....

Jahre is just another G80 variant with cosmetic upgrades. Other than the exterior color, it isnt truely special.
M3cs falls under "special" category. |

Please don't be the person that pays $20k above MSRP…nowhere in this solar system is this vehicle worth that kind of a premium.

20k markup? Save your money for a CS at that point.

I have been lucky to get the 50 Jahre in Interlagos and it is at the port in Germany ready to be shipped to the PCD. To make it special, it needs to have the Carbon seats, I would not settle at his point. I also agree with everybody else, it is a nice package with some interior upgrades which I always like, even though the interior is black, which wasn't my choice. I like loud interiors and I settled on that. No CCBs. However, 20K above MSRP without the seats you would like is a hard pass IMHO.
The special edition is a nice touch which made me pull the trigger, I personally like to have somewhat different versions of regular cars. It all started with my e92 AW M3 (which I still have) a single hump stripper DCT with cloth seats and living in Chicago, spent some time and money with IND to make it a bit different interior and exterior wise (IND is legit )and other stuff. I do not do any mechanical modding including chip tuning besides the AA axle back exhaust …. Cold start V8 M3 with that exhaust is still amazing to me BTW. I personally believe you would regret paying over MSRP without the Carbon seats. I did not pay over sticker. |

Having been in a very similar position as you I’d advise DONT BUY THE JAHRE.
I was impatient waiting on a build and purchased an M4 with all the tech options, and none of the Carbon or bucket seats I wanted. Thankfully got it at MSRP. Great car. But every time I got in it was thinking “shoot I wish I had those bucket seats”. Even thought about spending the $20k and buying them aftermarket. Eventually decided to be more prudent than that. I Kept it 6 months then sold it for a few grand over my OTD price. Now I’m waiting on the dream spec M4 to be built- 6MT, RWD, Dravit over Fiona, carbon interior and exterior and buckets. No tech options! Hopefully will see it sometime toward year end. Slated for early September build. Last edited by Chris_Edgar_86; 07-16-2022 at 10:49 AM.. |
