Good luck getting one though. Those cars have just as long if not longer wait times than the M3. I’ve been quoted 1 year just for the allocation. However most dealers I’ve spoken with will do MSRP if I’m house financing.

I found 2 CT5-V Blackwings for sale new and both dealers wanted 20-30k over MSRP.

Not a fan of the curved screen If the pics are accurate, it will ruin the sporty cockpit feel of the M. Worse than that, not having physical knobs and buttons is the real issue. Having to look away from the road to do something is much less safe than feeling for a knob while keeping eyes on the road.

You just wait it out. I'm not buying anything over MSRP, be it a BMW or a Cadillac.

Pricing will eventually normalize.

Got a call today that I finally have an allocation for a June production. M3Cx individual color. Should have the car by Sept/Oct. Was literally day to day about whether to cancel and get the refund back too.

Assume I'll squeak in with the current iDrive setup?

If your June build slot holds, you'll be comfortably within the remaining rollout for iDrive 7. It's more nerve-wracking for folks like me who, with a MY22 spec and order, have been pushed back to July--where it's still ambiguous as to exactly when, in which week, the switchover will take place.

Well that's confusing... I thought BMW was no longer accepting individual orders for MY22 cars... unless that changed recently?

Yeah I'm not clear on it either. I'm not sure what my dealer was doing but I ordered in Dec and it sounds like they swapped me in to an existing dealer allocation.

FYI. I was "lucky" when I ordered by M3CX in February as the dealer said initially Dec '22 then had an allocation for May '22-> April->March-> End of July for delivery.

He's just confirmed that LCI comes into effect week 26 (w/c 27th June) and my "112" production week is 27 (w/c 4th July). So ID8 for me.

The addition of this square touchscreen with kick-stand has actually pushed me away from my plans of purchasing an M3/M4 in 2023-24. (because that's when i'll be financially prepared to do so) When I first saw the reveal of this new generation in person I was totally onboard with the exterior and LOVED the dual digital gauge instrument cluster...reminded me of a modern airplane cockpit. Why is this so important? Because it's what we're mostly looking at when in the car.... that and the road itself. Now it's a big, ugly, cost-cutting panel that every other car on the road will soon have. It's not a special, purpose-made dash anymore. I'm now looking at previous gen 911's to try something different. Maybe this is a good thing !

You can still get an M4 with an old interior setup for 2023. Those change in MY 2024.

Yeah, I was about to say. You have until ~ next July I think to get an M4 with the ID7 screens (older, bottom pic in your post).

Good to know....I would hope at that time to have some indication that it will hold true through July and that the "old" screens don't get pushed out early due to supply or something. It's all so close in timing. i'll just need to see where I am in the process to purchase when the time comes.

i honestly have no problem with the massive screens; i'm sure i would eventually get to used to them. But my issue is with the lack of hard buttons. I love the 1-8 preset buttons and cant imagine digging through touch screen to turn on my heated/ventilated seat and change the temp. Had they kept the physical buttons I would have no issues with this new setup

I keep saying the same, I would even accept digital buttons as a pull down or whatever on the new digital screen…..shortcuts for mundane functions that we do every day, radio station, TPS, Nav home, whatever the user decides is important, not the software UI mandating. We have the ability to create a million different setups for the car which is cool, let's add a bit more customization to the UI please. Maybe it'll be part of an upgrade down the road, it is not that hard to program software after all.

This topic has been beaten to death at this point. More than half of you that are despising those screens will experience it in person at some point and be ok with it, perhaps even love it. Having experienced them in person - they are WAY more crisp than the screens on ID7, and actually more M specific (colours, fonts) than the outgoing system for M cars so I'm not sure how they make some of you feel as though the car is "less sporty".

I will confess the integration could have been prettier - but when you're in driver's seat, focused on driving, are you really focused on those screens? I remember being very disappointed when BMW moved away from traditional, round gauges in favour of the weird triangular design they use now - and then I drove a car with it - it doesn't take away from the driving experience at all because you're not looking there all the time. Even when the gauges were round, you were not constantly staring there.

Last point - buttons. They made the climate control so easy and intuitive to use that you honestly will not miss the buttons - the climate control is accessible in any mode/any menu.

You can pull down from the top on the curved display and can save 8 favorites\shortcuts - so there you go.

+1. The shortcuts are definitely there. A simple swipe down from the top right corner exposes them. You can even see the names of each shortcut on the screen.

I posted this in another forum, but it concerns me all the cost cutting going on at BMW. My E92 335i had the iDrive beautifully integrated INTO the dashboard, then my F30 340i and M2C have it tacked on (which isn't horrible, but definitely a step down from the E92), and now this flat screen with the awful kickstand across ALL models. I'm guess the M2C will be my last BMW, but I meant for that. That's why I bought it outright with cash.

I was on the fence about idrive 8, but sat in a 2023 m340 today and wow pictures do not do this screen justice. I found it was amazing. I guarantee more then half the people complaining about this screen has not seen it in person. Pictures make it look like dog poop. It’s a lot smaller and better integrated then it seems I promise you. I too was one of those who hated it, but now I love it. Just my opinion anyways.

The world complained when the iPhone removed the physical keyboard from the phone. This was in lieu of new advances in technology. Look where we are now and how that turned out.

It will breed goodness to the brand.
It doesn't change the fact that:
It's not as attractive
There are few physical buttons

You will simply learn to interact with your car in different ways. It sounds cliché, but it's what will happen.

With that said I will cherish my iD7 dual screen. And yes I still miss the dual hump iD4 screen of the e90

I don't think an iPhone is comparable to an infotainment setup in a car; a phone application is markedly different than a user interface in a vehicle and used for different purposes.

This entire digital slab should have been part of a "tech package" option for those that are into it and not forced on everyone else.
