Durability of lighter colored interiors?
Looking at M3/M4s and while I like how some of the lighter colored (NOT black) interiors look - I’m always worried that those colors will get dirty faster and will be harder to clean.
For silverstore, Fiona, etc - are any of you coating them with anything special to keep them from getting dirty? How have they held up over time?

Have had a long line of light colored interiors:
2004 V70R - Gobi Sand (very light biege) 2011 535i - Oyster nappa 2014 Cayenne - Tartufo / Umber Light tan and light brown) 2013 911 - Pebble (light gray / off white) 2018 & 2020 Tesla - White 2023 Cayenne - Chalk Upcoming 2024 G80 - Ivory When I got the V70R, my kids weren't born yet. I had two kids and sold that car when my son was 4 and my daughter was about 6 months. Back then I used Leatherique I've been using leather masters and Colorlock. The Tesla was easy, being "vegan" leather (aka nice vinyl). The new Cayenne was coated and has been holding up well. The old (2014) Cayenne was uncoated and just cleaned every 4-6 months. It still looks pretty clean for 10 years and nearly 125k miles. It's not that much effort. Buy what you want and invest a little time. |

Had Ivory in my previous car (G05 M50i). Had to clean it every once in a while but 5 minutes of rubbing with a good leather cleaner made it like-new. Never put any coating on it.

Black is not any cleaner than any other color - it just hides the filth and stains you are sitting on and touching. A questionably funky smelling interior is more likely to be in a black interior car than any other. |

I had a F82 that was AW/SS.
Now I have a G80 that’s AW/SS. On both I used Colourlock. Sh!t is priceless. For $45 on AZon this kit includes the mild cleaner and also the protector. This one small kit has lasted through two cars, but I’m a pretty clean person in my cars. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BCCQWGK...p_mob_ap_share The protector isn’t shiny and has the same smooth finish as new BMW leather. I do all seat surfaces, steering wheel, door and dash leather (if you have it), and then go back over the bolsters and steering wheel with a second coat. Stuff dries quick, no residue that I noticed, I just buff it. https://youtu.be/0Zujqc76xsk

Curious, what leather cleaner did you use? Mine has some jeans blue dye on the seat bottom/back and I want to use something that is safe, so looking for good recommendations.

I have SS on my G80, 2.5 months in it, 2000 miles, they look brand new. I have not touched them. only part I cleaned was the arm rest in the middle. I play tennis every day so there is a lot of sweat in and out...no issues at all.

I'm one of the earlier adopters of this platform, and have 20k miles on mine. I have the orange interior with carbon buckets. I had the same concerns as you when I was spec-ing the car 2 years ago, but I'm glad I went with orange. If you are willing to clean the interior about once a month (just some leather cleaner and microfiber), it will hold up very well. If you don't want that responsibility, then a darker color is likely the way to go.
Btw, I coated mine with Gyeon leather shield initially, but that has likely worn off by now. It's hard to tell how much it did, but my interior still looks great, so I would recommend (better safe than sorry).
