Opinions on Pricing of 2021 M3 Competition
Hey guys! New to this forum and the World of BMW but looking at purchasing a 2021 M3 Competition. Car has 1800 Miles and is priced at 80k.
RWD, Executive Package, Carbon Fiber Interior, M Shadowline lights/Icon Adaptive Headlights are the main things I see for additional add ons. Looking at AutoTrader it seems like this is a decent price. Is the market just inflated on these things right now? Really curious on some of your guys thoughts on purchasing this vehicle price wise. |

Not saying this isn’t market, but assuming it has tge base wheels, you’re talking exactly the price you could buy a new 2024 for with those same options:
Metallic paint CF interior Lasers Shadowline Exec pack $80,050 plus destination. That seems bad to me. For that money, find an allocation and wait. |

Isn't it closer to 86k on the site? Seems like autotrader is just insane on used prices. Made me think this was a great deal. How bad are the wait times on orders?

The one you are sending isn't a Competition. I wish I knew on the sticker. I asked for it and original MSRP price but he said they didn't have the original sticker but they could get one from BMW. When I ask about MSRP he said "80 somethin". Probably enough right there to say it's not a good buy I guess from this dealer. As mentioned though, when I was comparing to autotrader prices it seems like a steal. Glad I take the car buying process slow as I may of made a mistake had I not haha.

I’m sure there’s room in it. There’s also the classifieds here - https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=921

With just the options you have listed, it’d be $85,795 for a 2024 (there could be more, put the VIN into mdecoder.com). The market is what it is, but saving $5k on a 3 year old M3 with only a year or so left of warranty doesn’t sound like a deal to me.

What is market right now though, like 10-15% over sticker? I dont know how well the used cars are selling but it appears the ones with a decent amount of miles are right in that $75-85k range. Are the wait times on new orders like a year or more out?

The market is not 10-15% over sticker, MSRP is fairly easy to find. The problem a lot of people seem to find is that they walk into their local dealer and place an order without asking if there’s a line and what place they are on it. If you call around, and find an allocation, maybe 3-4 months, unless you order buckets (could be a delay for them). Or find a broker that can find you an allocation for a fee.

That makes alot more sense. I couldnt figure out why so many cars are being listed for practically MSRP with 10-20k miles on them. I did call local BMW and allocation was available with 2-4 month wait time just as you mentioned. I think ill head that route. Thanks guys for the quick responses and getting me up to speed on these vehicles.

I’ve been looking at multiple used 2023’s for sale that have had massive price drops recently.
Also this is an interesting video posted a day ago of someone unsuccessfully trying to sell their 2023 G80 in Arizona: https://youtu.be/8OabVKK3SI0 Market seems to definitely changing or has changed from the markup days. Makes me nervous on my 24 M3Cx that I’m picking up later this month. I am paying MSRP for the M3 but have been taking advantage of almost zero depreciation for my past couple cars during covid. |

Arrowhead hasn't said a word to me about buying mine back, and I've been there a few times with the vehicle looking into new x3s. I have no desire to sell, but a strong offer would of course change that. Honestly though, I think the used car market is about to take a 💩, just from reading threads and talking to people in the business. If you can wait, wait.
Any dealer that gives me vague responses to direct questions is an immediate write off, especially for something that isn't particularly rare. Hard to come by, perhaps, but not with a little patience.

The only difference between a used and new one is if someone farted in it or not lol. But I would say if you can wait it out and put an order in I'd go with that.

I was always under the impression that German cars like this had fast/terrible depreciation but it doesn't seem to show on the used market currently. Based off talking to some people the market is softening but realistically what kind of depreciation can I expect if I were to purchase an M3 brand new driving 6k miles or less a year?

Supply may not really even out until late in this decade. The price of a 3 year-old off-lease used M3 isn't going to be easy to guess. I don't think anyone on this board is psychic enough to know what a car you buy today will be worth at 3, 4, or 5 years old regardless of mileage. |
