I purchased my M3 from a dealer out of state and that dealer is set as the default/preferred dealer in the MyBMW app.

Whenever I try to set my local dealer as preferred, I get a pop up that says "You are not able to save a dealer as a preferred dealer if they are located outside of the country where your VIN is registered."

I'm not really sure why this is the case since both dealers are in the same country (USA), just different states.

Has anyone encountered this before?

Did you ever figure this out? I bought a used M340i from out of state and am having the same issue.

Did you reset the vehicle data from the car when you got it? That should pull away all associated users and VIN attachment for that car from past accounts for the app and you’ll need to reassociate again with yours.
