The law changed, but US requirements are still more stringent than other countries. US requires higher refresh and scan rates from anti-dazzle equipment, which differs from other countries, so it may require more than just coding or software from BMW because it seems those requirements maybe beyond current hardware capabilities.

The bill was passed. I think they actually have until the end of 2023 to complete the verbiage and laws and legislation on it. And we still wont get the ultra high intensity. The lighting output is still being held back to the 1970 standard of light output.

So I did Bimmercode anti-dazzle and had a drive last night. Most noticeable was the left to right sweeping based in steering angle. Tunneling was not so obvious but the car definitely lit up the sides without oncoming cars, and seemed to light up around the car ahead.

High beams on street signs are obnoxiously bright, and the car seems to know this and switches them off when there are a few bright reflective signs, its actually irritating to my eyes, so I appreciate it.

Overall worth the 5 mins it took.

Nice to know!
You did the coding with Bimmercode?
What coding did you use?

Someone should do a video on how to exactly do this via Bimmercode for us novice folk. Pretty Please, and thank you.

Or at least a bunch of screen shots.

Yes, still coding. Not my regular day job, so response is sometimes delayed.

Question about warranty.. If anti-dazzle is coded I assume this will make the brights turn on more than usual. I read on various other threads this can cause the headlights to get hotter than normal. That being said, this would cause the headlights to burn out faster. If you take it to service, BMW will see you coded anti-dazzle so the headlights won't be covered under warranty.

I also saw a YouTube video where a guy coded his X3 to have a different instrument gauge cluster and his BMW service center wanted to void his entire warranty.
Do any of you have any factual experience with any of the above?

If coded incorrectly, then yes, they can burn out and fail quicker.

Dealership does not have ability to see coding changes (only behavior), unless they call in specialist, which would have to prove coding resulted in fault.

I tried this after the 7/22 update - all coded successfully, but anti dazzle no longer works.

My suspicion:

1DF8 LUT_AFS_CODRV_HOR: G05_Laser_ECE
1DF8 LUT_AFS_DRV_HOR: G05_Laser_ECE

In the "base" coding (which i had applied before, and it worked) these values are different:

LUT_AFS_CODRV_HOR Laser_US/G007_US standard/init

LUT_AFS_DRV_HOR Laser_US F040_G005_AHL/G015_G020_Laser

*however* post 7/22 the co-driver whore (sorry, I'm 12) target value no longer exists. It's just laser_us. I re set these 2 values - verified all else is set. Let's see if it works. Will report back tonight.

Yep, for.anyone interested, using the posted "new" version works if you use the "old" values for driver and co-driver whore. My antidazzle is back!

Unsure if the new coding makes a substantive difference, but it can't hurt?

Do you think the new coding gives you the same results as you would get with ESYS such as tighter tunnel beams and better results with the lights reflecting off things like street signs and such?

What (if any) difference do you see between the old coding and the new one? Thanks.

Definitely does not offer they came effectiveness as if you code FLM and KAFAS.

I had the full fat coding on my last car, and it's definitely better at understanding what a reflection is vs what's a car driving towards you.

I just had a quick drive last night, but even the revised coding is still very aggressive in shutting down the high beams upon street sign reflections

Could you repost the entire new coding with the values you used to make it work? Based on your comments I wanted to verify that you made this work with the 7.22 update?

So I had Steve from "Code My Bimmer" code in anti-dazzle for my 2022 X3 M40i (LED Lights) and my 2022 G80 (Laser Lights). It took him about 20 minutes to do each vehicle. I won't advertise his exact fee for this but I can say he charged me less than $100 per vehicle.

I tested it out and it was amazing to see the lights do their magic. I highly recommend Steve. Communication was great the entire time from start to finish to include appointment confirmation via WhatsApp.

Go check him out: https://www.codemybimmer.ca/

Just to confirm after this is coded do the hi beams stay on all the time when in the city or is this only when the auto hi beams would normally come on (ie outside the city).

No. They will turn on/off and independently dim based on ambient conditions.
