have had the M3 2 weeks. spoke to the master technician about the "M Mode Road Config" being greyed out as seems the logical place to tick the box to see the tacho. was told that it was a heading for the two items underneath!
agree what a pest it is not having it there.

Does that module work by simulating the button press ? It guess it won’t work on idrive8 cars since you cannot change the mode just by pressing the button.

after talking with kos137 i've ordered one of these from Korea and it's already on the way to me DHL express. i'll be reporting back very soon hopefully with success

bit ridiculous that BMW will just not add the m mode view as one of the M button preset options but it is what it is, hopefully this takes care of a big annoyance for me.

I think it's because it's tied with disabling safety features, would be my guess.

yeah sure maybe but they already have the functionality to require confirmation when your m preset includes DSC OFF and it already warns you that steering intervention will be disabled, so it would be trivial to extend that warning and confirmation to include m mode sport as well.

anyway it clearly isn't happening so hopefully this little box will take care of it.

A sports car should have (the option) to feature the Tach in the head up. Simple as that..

AND why we can't have the option to have the "M" screen in the binnacle when pressing the M1 or M2 is also incredible illogical.

You can code your way around it in ID7, I did it in my G42 but that was ID7. Havent tried in ID8 in my G87 (yet).

What did you change in coding for this to work?

Then they should have another way to display the tach in the HUD! It’s ridiculous how they designed it.

There's finally a solution to have the M Mode Screen switch with M1 or M2 buttons in iDrive 8 and iDrive 7!!

Old thread, but I recently got this for my G87 M2: https://cando.plus/doc.html. I see they're looking for beta testers for G80 and G82.

It's really flexible, but so far I only use it to map M Sport mode on car start up (similar to the video) and different DSC settings (without having to confirm!) on M1 and M2.

What are your thoughts on it so far vs the normal BimmerCode customization? Does this also reset with software updates?

I really want a way to have the m-sport HUD and cluster as my default but not lose cruise control. There are already ways to map it to an M mode button, but as soon as you enable cruise, it switches back to default.

The two perform very different things. The cando doesn't program ECUs, it basically hijacks the CAN bus. It is unaffected by software updates, and remains connected at all time. It turns off when power to the iDrive controller is cut (that is where it connects)
