I’m trying to turn off ASD with BimmerCode. There’s an option listened Active Sound Design that I changed to “not active” but it doesn’t seem like it worked. Any idea? Idrive 7

In addition to changing that setting to 'not active' you need to click on the icon at the very top right and de-activate the activation code. Then it will work.

Shouldn't I activate the deactivation code, rather than deactivate the activation?

I'm kidding. Kind of. Can you post a screen shot of this icon, because I'm not familiar with it. Unless you are referring to the "save".

So just to be clear- we don't need to go to Expert Mode anymore with v4.2? Just deactivate, then hit code in upper right?

That's how it worked on my 2018 F87

I know there is a setting in the iDrive to adjust the exhaust for M1 and M2 modes, but it closes the valves as well.
So what if you have a valve controller that keeps the valves open and you turn of asd in idrive8? Problem solved?

Bimmercode 4.2 did not deactivate ASD for me via the normal route. Haven't tried expert mode yet.

I'm pretty confident I just did it with my S21, ENET cable and Bimmercode 4.11.0.

Don't know if it matters, but I used a bluetooth adaptor. I know mine is still on because I have the exhaust sounds programmed on my M1 button and I can hear the rumbling go on and off through my 12 inch trunk sub when I toggle my M1 button.

iPhone or Android? I believe you still need to request the TestFlight version from them to do it with an iPhone.

Oh ok. Yea I’m on iPhone. I thought I read somewhere that the latest version of bimmercode 4.2 supported it. I know the iOS app was recently updated.

How bad is it with the sub? This is why I’m looking to deactivate.

It's not super noticeable but I think it negatively affects the overall sound. I feel like the sound is improved since completely deactivating ASD.

Is there still no definitive way to turn it off with iDrive8?

There should still be a menu option built in the car to turn it off. Maybe even one of the programmable buttons could be programmed to toggle it on or off. Maybe you want it on to impress a friend in the car who doesn't know its a thing? I can't see any other use for it since I know its all fake. It's one of the first things I code off and the ride is much more peaceful.

Are there any instructions that you have run across? I haven’t done it before.

Also, what adapter did you use?

for me. I don't really mind the active sound.
I don't modify the car, I drive it on the track to set some lap record for stock car. and stock car is just too quiet. I need active sound in a way so I can kinda hear it without looking at the screen.

Wow I am surprised to read this, the fake sound was just too annoying to me on track at high rpm.

I disconnected the ASD box from my trunk in my 2020 M4(F series). Wondering if the G8X has the same box.
