That's when all of my electronics started acting up, when I was leaving the tint shop. So, it may not have been the radar detector install. Everything is fine, now, but it was messed up for a few days.

I do know you cannot hardwire a radar detector to a C8 Corvette mirror, thats giving people all kinds of problems, so, its possible.

Interesting…I read up on the C8 issues and talked to Blendmount about it when I was asking about my situation. They said it was due to incorrect wire placement causing the issue.

OK, that makes sense. Which also brings up the question, what wires did they tap? Usually shops that install their own stuff, they don't go looking for youtube videos on how to wire a radar detector, they get in there with a voltmeter and find a 12v wire. I'm willing to bet they tapped the wrong wires.

So i checked my settings...i changed Blindspot monitoring to "early" before a long drive today. About halfway through the drive (50 miles or so) all of sudden both monitors started working flawlessly.

Maybe they had to calibrate after pickup? Maybe it was set to low and wasn't picking up cars?

The only way to know is to take it back apart to see if its hooked up, correctly, if it's still causing problems.

Finally spent some time to get the trim off and do the mirrortap. Wasn't as straightforward as in the video but removed them without damage with some patience and trim tools. Thanks to Limegrntaln for the idea to use the needle nose, I was able to use them to remove the plug and tap the leads without issue.

Does anybody have a link to the blend mount please? I have the escort max 360c. I'm also hearing that the blend mount does rattle. Is it worth spending over $100 for this piece?

I have the Blendmount for my Uniden R7, and it doesn't rattle. I'm also on my 5th blendmount. I've had them on the past 5 cars. They're well worth the money.

You have to go to their website and put in your make and model, to determine which rear view mirror you have. They list 3 different options, depending on what packages you have ordered with your car.

Mine does rattle, but only at around 2k RPMs with the drone of my exhaust. If I had a stock exhaust I don't think it would rattle.

Edit: Also, it's not the mount to the mirror that's rattling, it's the connection to the R8. All I have to do is barely touch the R8 and the rattle goes away.

Update: Never mind, apparently it turns off after a few minutes.

On the big connect it's the left most (brwn/blk for ground and right most reddish/pink for 12v). All the trim pieces pull of relatively easy.

The hardest part was splitting the plastic cover. Well, that and making my size 11 hands fit in a tight place.
Very helpful and highly recommend installing your radar detector with blend mount.

You're literally sliding a connector into the stock harness by pushing it in. You don't disconnect anything, you just push the connector in.

It's hard to articulate, but it couldn't be more reversible

Just throwing caution to the wind. But since the center screen has been updated in the 2023, there may be other electronics that have been updated, as well. Just keep that in mind when you're using the same wiring that worked in the 2021-2022 models.

Worst case scenario, you just won't get power. It's not going to mess anything up, unless you completely ground something out. I would say if the wiring color is the same, it's probably a safe bet, that nothing has changed.

So has anyone done the mirror tap on the 2023? I am having the issue of no power at the red and blue wire; however I get 13 volts on the small connector with the red and green wire. I've been at this for 2 hours now. Super frustrating! Thanks in advance for any advice.
