As someone else said the 'galvanic' (which essentially just means coated through an electrical process, a bit like anodyzed, which also implies they are not just 'painted') controls are also standard in the UK G8x Comp. Interestingly if you look closely at the pics (I haven't studied these up close in person), it actually looks like the metal is actually a casing around the switch, as the symbols (which are back-lit) appear to be cut through the metal. So agian this would imply its definitely not just some plastic treament, but actually metallic. |

Holy hell! 180 thousand Euros? That's well over $200k US. I guess I practically stole mine at $80k US.

In some EU countries people are being bullied out of ICE cars with CO2 taxes (around 50% of your $80k for the G8x), all in favour of EV's. Current fuel price is around € 2/ltr., mostly taxes also. ICE car owners are called milk-cows for a reason here.

I had the silver buttons in my M8, the black ones in my M4. As an earlier poster said, after 10 minutes inside the car, you'll never notice. But . . . this is the sort of thing that BMW will change with next year's LCI. It'll be an almost no cost way for them to differentiate between the old and the facelifted models.

I know I’m in the minority here but I prefer black switches. Do I wish they were something other than plastic, yes. No matter which you get they are both plastic. I don’t feel the need to highlight my window switches. Everyone has their own taste but glad mine had black controls.
