Exclamation Alarm goes off randomly

Hi folks,

Today I noticed that the car alarm went off randomly without any apparent reason.

No error code, nothing.

I never had this issue before.

Did any of you have this issue?

Was your key in your pocket? It's happened to me when the key is in my pocket and the buttons get pressed accidentally.

My wifes X7 does this sometimes just sitting in our garage. About once a quarter. Strange.

Any items sitting in the car that may have shifted or settled that would have set off the motion sensors?

My car is pretty empty inside…

I scheduled a service appointment and will see.

I was doing some research and it could be that some motion sensor got triggered. You can disable it by pressing the lock botton twice within the first few seconds.

This has been happening to mine, as well. Although, I have it narrowed down to when I remote start it, and dont actually get into it. The 3 time its happened, I had the car idling, and I was standing outside, talking to someone about the car, and the alarm went off. One time, I couldnt get it to turn off, without getting into the car, and pressing the brake and the start stop button. Extremely annoying.

have you got anything plugged into the OBD port?
Typically insurance devices that monitor your driving and such can cause that to happen. If that is the case, there was a TSB on this a few years back.

No. Nothing is plugged into the OBD port.

Ever since I pushed the lock button twice quickly, I never had the issue again.

I have to be careful pushing the button twice, because if I get too overzealous, and hit it 3 times, it starts the car.

Un-install the MyBMWAPP on your phone and re-install it. My car turned on in the garage one day. Luckily, I was in the kitchen and heard it or else we all could have been dead from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Apparently I had scheduled a remote start. I don't use the app anymore for that reason.

But I have extreme OCD and have to check everything like the doors being locked at night, oven being off, etc. like 20x so I'm probably not the person to be taking advice from

Oh no. This is one of my biggest fears about remote start. I never wanted a car that had this feature.

Oh, just read this follow up. Makes me feel a little better. I plan on never using remote start.

Recently purchased a P3Cars OBD2 gauge for my '22 G80, and when I did remote start via the My BMW app, the alarm would go off until I unlocked the car.
Did some research and didn't find the exact steps, so sharing below in case anyone else faces the same issue.

Bimmercode with VLinker Wi-Fi Adapter:
1) Select "Roof Function Center"
2) Select "OBD alarm"
3) Select "Not active"
4) Code and no issues now

Our old F15 X5 did this only during the summer months. Not sure why. But if I left the windows cracked it never went off. As soon as I closed the windows and walked away and it was hot out, the alarm would just keep going off. Never figured it out. BMW blamed my dinan tune at the time which I thought was dumb

I was having the same issue with my G20 + Kies P3 gauge. I followed the above instructions via BimmerCode to disable the OBD2 alarm, good to go!

Curious, is yours hardwired or OBD2 port? I have mine hardwired but the computer still sees the connection and rings the alarm.
