$4100 or the more expected $3500 make little difference to us that are set on AWD but it might help reducing the order pressure on these somewhat taken that many of those who are in the nice to have but not necessary camp might balk at the number of budget reasons or that for them an individual paint or loading up with options make more of a difference. Or is that wishful thinking

Personally, I want the loud, ridiculous car with a thousand badges because I'm going to lean into it. I think it's hilarious and I kind of want it to be even more over the top. Give me a bosozoku exhaust and a pink paint job.

There is one thing that does come off universally in poor taste though - and that's when you complain that people don't look up to you enough for having money. The 90s are over and nobody thinks having more money means you're smarter or harder working than them. Athletes are often an exception because they don't tend to come from family money and actually becoming an athlete is a one in a million lottery ticket. Even still, professional athletes get a ton of hate and are under a microscope at all times. Ditto for actors and music artists or whatever. It's cool to spend your money on things you personally enjoy and it's cool to lean into that. It's not cool to think you're owed admiration by people who are having a tough time putting food on the table.
Who ever said "look up to me" also never said admiration.

Aspire to do well is what I said. And I would think everyone should want that. But twist words like the media, good job.

There's no charge for tartufo or Fiona interiors, so go to town with it

Beautiful car and performance is about where I expected. I have a growing family and aging parents, so it is going to be x3m comp when lci becomes a thing; otherwise, I would be going m3 xdrive all the way.

I had an F80 zcp before and looks like it was quite a bit lighter than these figures... In a twisted way, it almost makes me feel less depressed about the curb weight of the x3m.

If you don't mind pre-LCI they are practically giving the X3M away. I can see the LCI doing a rework on the suspension softness though, which actually was why I wouldn't, and didn't, get one.

Im not a big badge guy by any means but was glad to see there wasn't an extra xdrive badge on the car. Curious to how others care about that? Would you feel like you would want some extra badge to show you have the awd model?
I don't really care about the badge at all. AWD is the difference of being able to buy an M4 and daily drive it in a city like Montreal with all of our snow and not.

I'll happily pay that to get a nice fun AWD car, that's been the only reason that's stopping me. I don't want RWD headaches in our messy winters. This is *huge* value for those living in places that don't get beautiful weather all year long.

But some questions:
. With this kind of weight and size, is it not growing into an M5 ? Just look at the dimensions and weight of the past M5s
Are you fine with such an evolution ?
. Why such a heavy car ? Of course M engineers can do wonders with the chassis, but is this not too much ? Legislators in various European countries are taxing according to power but also weight. And in Motorsports is the objective to have -more- weight when releasing a new race car ? Let alone an M road car ?
Are you happy with more weight ?
. Design: of course BMW wants to be bold. If this is targeted at another client segment, can they afford the big price increase versus the F80 ?
. Price and competition: if you compare it with a BMW Alpina B3 - the M3 is much more costly, no Touring available yet and even if slightly down on power, the B3 has much more torque. And the design is maybe more suited to a crowd who prefers to be more discreet. Would you go for a B3 (of course I available in your local market) ?
Thoughts welcome.

The G80 is the spiritual successor to the E39 M5. Almost identical dimensions and slightly less weight. Those that are looking for a more track specific and lightweight build are buying M2

I would absolutely consider Alpina if they were 1) available in our market 2) offered with a manual transmission. I really like their subtle approach to modification

They should have just changed the Competition badge to say "X-Competition" or something like that.
It's annoying when you go on different dealer's websites and after a whole bunch of scrolling you still have no idea what packages are included with the car. Now if they don't specify AWD in the spec, you'll have to look for carbon seats and carbon exterior and check the price tag to kind of guess if it's AWD.

I live in SoCal and still would want to have the AWD. The added performance & the safety aspect of it makes it an almost must-have for me. The road conditions aren't great and when it rains once or twice a year, you really have to behave or you'll end up on top of a tree.

The 3 sets for this press release aren't manipulated that way. Those are the actual registration plates for the cars shown.

FWIW, the error has been corrected. Santorini is now noted as the color.

As a current Model 3 Performance driver......I'm counting down the days until my Tesla lease ends so I can get into another M3.

After my previous E92 and F80 M3s, the Tesla got boring quickly and its comfort / ease as a daily driver is not enough to stop me from daydreaming about another M3 in my life.

I suppose that's better than leaving them at the halfway point between the studio and location...

Now I feel a bit guilty.
