Moral of the story, it takes a fully built, Stage 3, 1,030 WHP xDrive G80 to keep up with a stock, non track pack Plaid.

Dont mess with a Plaid.

I agree but the fact that the M3 was able to launch so well, and keep the power down against a car that makes full torque immediately, was rather impressive to say the least. The braking did surprise me though.

Yes it's impressive. But most G8X's aren't built near that level and would get summarily blown off.

The fact that a new Plaid is what, like $93k? That's insane.

True, on the former. On the latter, that's only been the case recently. Previously the Plaid was 130-135K which could have gotten you an M3 and a lot of mods for well under that. Now the Plaid is 93K, and that's before the 7500 tax credit...so even less considering that.

Looks like by the time they were done the track was close to drying off.

Regardless - very entertaining for sure.

Very impressive performance by the G80. Not many gas powered street cars are able to compete with the Plaid from a dig. Both cars were very impressive.

Well, not many gas powered street cars show 1,000 hp.
Plaid is one trick pony flattered by the huge power advantage. Nothing else

What other trick is a 1000 HP M3 doing?

The Plaid absolutely has flaws.. Calling it a one trick pony is extremely shortsighted, however. Especially with the track pack brakes.

Give credit where credit is due. Obviously, the instantaneous torque and power of the Plaid is impressive. Super cars can’t compete with the straight line performance of the Plaid, at least, to 160ish mph. I don’t own a Plaid as I’m just not a EV guy. When I fart, I want it to rip even though a silent “woosh” may produce more thrust.

Where do you see the 7,500 tax credit for the Plaid?

I know the X qualifies now, and I believe the S does as well.

I think that's just the dual motor.

The Plaid, currently, only gets a 7500 dollar lease credit spread out over the term and not for finance or cash buys ...

Man the s58 engine is a genuine monster. Excited to see what mods become available in the future and really push the limit.
