Keeping the engine in efficient warms the car faster. This was true in my F80 at least.

Coded ambient lighting to red which goes well with the Fiona Red interior.

I think it depends on how you have the M2 button setup, no?

I learned that this car tolerates far bigger oversteer angles in the snow without intervening than my 440xi would.

Even in comfort mode the car seems to understand that I meant to do that.
The 440xi required turning off the electro nannies to play rally driver.

The M3 understands me and gets it. It has yet to interrupt, nor has it gone past what I intended.

Perfect.

I believe it is important to do this in low traction situations so you know where the limit is on that day and are prepared when it happens unexpectedly.

At least, that's what I tell mrs. jummo. If only it had a manual parking brake.
Boy howdy, did she like that move.

The car continues to impress, I'm even learning to accept the transmission and some of its wisdom. But, my left foot is bored. Paddle shifters just aren't that satisfying or involving.

Ditto! I love the red on red. I also coded Cyan and a Cyan/Pink combo for that vaporwave aesthetic:

jmg Do you know if anyone's made custom infotainment screens? I would love to have my overall "theme" match the ambient lighting. I know it's labor intensive and don't know if it's even possible via the normal coding methods, but it was a thought I had. Like, you could basically call the current default theme "red", and then take all the red bits and color them blue, green, or yellow and match it to the ambient schemes.

Not that I know of. It's not impossible though, as BMW had done it themselves with the iDrive that first appeared in my 2015 i3. It was identical to the iDrive in my F80, but with some changes to the color theme, being blue and orange to match the blue them of the i3 and i8.

My M440 changed from red to blue if you went into Eco Pro mode vs Sport+ or Comfort...so I know it's possible on the G-platform cars too.

This may be basic but you can remove some of the scroll options in the instrument cluster to only have what you actually want.

What I haven’t figured out yet is whether there’s a quick way to get back to the prior display after using the bc button on the left to show trip data and odometer. Any figured that out yet?

Yep, I use this 'feature' on snow-covered roads to help rotate the car in turns where the car would otherwise understeer. A brief, light dab of the throttle is all it takes; I've found with practice that ideally I'm already off the throttle before the rotation begins. (BTW, I only do this in low-speed situations with ample space to accommodate over-rotation.)

I habitually use Auto-Hold. But if I need to crawl out of a blind parking space, I'll dab the throttle just enough to alter the engine note, which disengages the parking brake. Then I can proceed at whatever pace is prudent.

“cold” appears under temp gauge until a temp is registered. does not mean it is warmed completely when “cold” text disappears wait for the top of the yellow in the tach to move up to 7200

That I thought I was going to knock my teeth out, trying to remove the door lock pins with a pair of pliers. What a pain in the ass.

But did you roll your windows down first before attempting removal like I suggested?

I went extra lazy. I even rolled the windows down holding the unlock button on the remote. And then rolled them back up with the lock button.

chicagofan00 sounds like you’re not the only one. That sucks, Nik! And with BMW tax, these cars aren’t cheap to tint.

Holy shit at least I’m not the only one that did this!

I have about a 2” gash in my front passenger window tint. Never got it fixed. Annoys the hell out of me but I’m too lazy to take it back to the place that did it since they are about 35 minutes each way and then of course time for them to do the job. Lol.

I made a gash in the tint on my driver’s side window when I accidentally opened my umbrella while leaving the car in a rain storm. My tint guy fixed it free despite being my fault, though, I guess that’s a good reason to keep going back to him.
