What do you not like or think could be improved about your G8x?

For turning it on I just push the recirculate button, you can push it again to turn the recirculate off, but the AC stays on. Turning AC off is trickier

Thanks for this tip. I have my ac on 95% of the time and rarely need to turn it off.

Same, I just turn fan all the way down and AC goes off, but I live in South FL so AC is never off. Maybe 1-2 days a year. I leave it on if windows go down.

Fan down is same way to turn off AC on my 2012 E93. First time I had to figure out how to turn off a/c with hardtop down it was perplexing to say the least so I get it. Chock this up to "Germans can be weird sometimes with design."

Must have been some update during the 1200 mile break in service... Before, when I turned the car off and opened the door, the radio would shut off. Now, when I turn the car off and open the door, the radio stays on. Not a fan of that.

Maybe there is a setting for it, but I certainly didn't change anything in my profile about it.

I just keep hitting the down arrow on fan speed and it does indeed turn off.

Can't you just press and hold the down arrow for a couple of seconds and shut it off? Then when pressing the up arrow again to turn it on it resumes the setting it was on.

That's how it's worked in other BMWs and works in my G01. Granted I haven't tried this in a G20/80 or iDrive 7 vehicle.

All of these various can't you do this or that for the AC just lends itself to the fact there should still be a simple button for cold (or dehumidified air) vs just regular air flowing through.

I use the A/C button to turn it off, but the Auto button to turn it on, and then adjust accordingly. Agree burying the Synch in Idrive is dumb. 2 biggest complaints: only one 12v outlet in cup holder. Hate to keep it open for the detector when it is carbon fiber and adds to the interior; and not having automatic tilt/telescope on an $80k + car!!! I have it all the way out and down, but would like to move it out of the way without having the stupid unlock, push/pull. And you can't lock it unless you have the fob? Maybe I'm missing something, but that makes no sense. I love the voice command, although sometimes you have to almost shout. Otherwise, the ergonomics are really very good. Do wish the HK stereo had better bass. The standard Bose on my Vette was better.

Agree on the steering wheel. I don't mind the manual setting of it, but for the price it should be motorized. There should also be a setting option in idrive for the steering wheel to go up and seat to go back when you enter/exit the car.

I think the HK system just overall doesn't have a very full rich sound as I'd expect from an $85k car.

Yes, from what I remember if you continue to press the button down it goes off. I’m back in the states and my car is in transport.

Right, but that turns the fan off as well right? I just want the button back that toggles normal air vs conditioned air that every other car I've own has had.

The F80 ran that way and I liked it tbh. Radio on until the car locks which is no big deal because when you walk away it locks automatically. But it's useful when you are cleaning your car and you want to listen to music. I was disappointed it shut off when the door opened so I'm excited for that feature to return

Not sure if it's the same way but in my X7, it's lock once then press the lock button 3 times in succession.

Remote start is set up on IDrive. You press the button on the fob 3 times in one second. You set it up in "Pre conditioning ventilation" by checking the remote start function. Then, you press it once to make sure it's locked, and then the 3 times in one second. I finally figured out the problem was not pressing it one time to "lock" the car--even though it was locked. Press it 3 times to shut off.

Sounds like you both are complaining about the same thing from opposite ends.

It is a setting (somewhere) in the settings (somewhere) to do this. I'm guessing somewhere in the "lock" settings.

Also, even if you don't have the key, when you open the door you should be able to turn on the radio and listen to tunes for about 15 minutes.

My F80 does the same thing until you lock the car.

Apple Carplay does not auto-resume music when I jump in the car. I've to ask siri to "resume Spotify" every single time - it's so annoying. Anyone know how to fix this?

It works perfectly on my 2018 X5M.

It works perfectly on my 2018 X5M.

I made an automation with the shortcuts app to fix this. When CarPlay connects, wait 5 seconds, media play.

The downside is this leaves an annoying notification on your phone every time it executes which you have to clear manually.

G8X specific
- exhaust note should be independent of engine mode selection (tie to exhaust valve button in future?)
- exhaust button shouldn't also affect ASD, make that a software toggle
- retune the brake feel modes, comfort is mushy who wants that?
- allow more customization with HUD/gauges, one should be able to have the tach in HUD whatever M Mode for example
- no welcome "light carpet" on the G8X, presumably due to the fat side skirt
- no kick-open trunk really defeats having a powered trunk (believe G2X has? so must be a diffuser design thing)
- a M-specific key fob would be nice...

G2X stuff...
- need a better audio system...
- should be having BOTH wired and wireless android auto/carplay
- wireless charger needs to have a ventilation fan
- no reason G2X should be neglected to the smaller 10.2'' screen while 5er and up get the 12 inch unit, all the black plastic surround is sad
