G8X interior rattle thread

Has anyone been getting rattles now that the weather is changing? I am hearing a rattle near the drivers side A pillar. I ended up finding it by tapping on the dash near the exterior light switches.

Took it into the dealership and they found that the small glove box beneath the lighting switch is the culprit and they ordered a whole replacement unit. I am also hearing some random plastic buzzing noise somewhere in the center/passenger side dash. Thinking it might be the center dash speaker.

I hear a little vibration on unhappy roads here and there, but it's really minor compared to the various noises that my M2C served up.

1600 miles and I've heard nothing but the giggles from my mouth lol.

In all seriousness I am very sensitive to that sort of stuff cause it drives me nuts but I haven't heard anything yet in my car.

Glad to hear that. I don't mind minor rattles but the glove compartment rattle is LOUD. Once I throw in a mid pipe and remove the secondary cats, I won't have to worry about it.

Nearly 4k miles and no rattles or squeaks. Only time there is any noise is if the small glove box door is open, the one below the light switches.

I have one coming from what sounds like the driver-side door. Only noticeable at lower, quieter speeds.

This is one reason why I am thankful that I had an Evo IX MR many years ago. Really set the bar low for my expectations on acceptable levels of rattles

My EVO X was pretty bad but nothing holds a candle to my 2013 Subaru STI. I had foam and Dynamat under all (and I mean all) the interior panels and every time I fixed one rattle another one came up as even the rear view mirror rattled. It was crazy. Once you have owned an STI everything else sounds peacefully quiet in comparison.

A little bit worse than I was happy with? It's hard to avoid rattles entirely when they forego rubber bushings on some bits and install stiff suspensions with summer tires. The 2-series cars all have an A-pillar issue, which I resolved thanks to the fine internets, but all the vibrations that the chassis and drivetrain sends have to go somewhere and I did wish BMW had thought to felt tape the thing a bit.

My '13 328 had actual shoddy construction rattles that helped me learn how to tear down an F30 interior after the dealership repeatedly failed to resolve it.

My E46 M3 Vert rattled, my 2020 AMG CLA45 rattled like it was built by drunk Baboons...the only rattle so far on this was self-induced and fixed immediately.

My 2005 Subaru STI was pretty bad too. I don't recall which was worse though.

So far I've had no issues through 2600 miles. My F30 rattled and squeaked like crazy.
