I doubt that there would be a programming a specific suspension profile that is reserved for HAS.
Im hoping its nothing complicated. If its not, I'm just going to have them installed at a local shop. The dealer is talking $1,350, vs $750, with alignment, from a shop thats installed dozens of KW sets on G8Xs. I just have to drive to the south bay area, which is about 2 hours from me.

Exactly, just like tom @ eas said, it could just be a service initialization. part of putting the car into service mode, so to speak. Plenty of ways to install them, it's just hardware, and can't be any different from installing KW or MSS HAS. I'd just like to know, for sure, whats involved, before I jump.

Oh Im not even remotely worried about the spring install, its redundant to other HAS setups- its that EDC thingy. The reason I disliked my F82 when lowered on KW was the issue with the dampers and their valving whereas with the G8X I feel that the BMW fixed that even for cars that are indeed lowered. I like the OEM EDC and my stance so one can only hope for an even better ride with this setup.

Im hoping its something that fancy. BMW would have definitely gone above and beyond.

Being the fact the HAS isn't an option when ordering the car new means most likely this isn't a VO (vehicle order) change, so the VO remains intact. Most likely its recalibration of the EDC struts, which we do when we install HAS kits on previous generation F8x M3/M4.

Not likely. The F8x BMW HAS kit was manufactured by KW also, taken off their v1 kit. This is most likely following suit as KW and BMW have been working together for years: https://www.kwsuspensions.com/bmw-motorsport

I'm thinking they will eventually be a factory option, or since it's an accessory, it will at least be port installed. Nice to see that I can get more of a confirmation of some sort of EDC programming of the EDC struts, from someone that installs them. Dealer is dragging their feet with the update info. I wanna get scheduled so I can get these installed.

Nothing, they're brand new, just released. There may be some info in the future, but I just got a hold of them, yesterday.

I've been waiting for the DDC, and I may eventually upgrade to those, but, this will do, for the time being.

Nice pick up and excited for you! Do you know the height adjustability range f/r? Wonder if it's similar/same to kw. Just got my front eibach springs and throwing those in on Friday. Saw you're headed to a shop in sj. If you're there this Friday PM I'll swing by when mine is done lol

I'd planned on going to SV.

For F8x, the EDC program varied from F80 to F80 ZCP

VDC (damper controls)
Module | Parameter | non-ZCP | ZCP
VDC | Fahrzeugtyp | F82 = 0F | F82_Comp = 28
VDC | M_Competition / High | 00 | 01

This was to adjust the dampers to compensate for the ZCP springs.

If there is a "EDC program", then I assume it should be similar to this, which is more towards coding than programming.

Very good information. Thank you. I talked to someone at a dealer, and we all know what that's worth, but they told me it was

"You just need to set the new ride heigh values into the VDP control units. So your adaptive headlights dont flip out."

I've never heard that ride height values can be added to the car. The garage I go to has ISTA, and I'm taking my car in tomorrow. I plan to ask them to look to see if something similar to the F8x parameters has showed up since they have just got their ISTA updated.

Will keep you in the loop.

EDIT: Comment removed due to conflicting information. No EDC programming is required.

I did the prior referenced when I installed my H&R sports. Just basically telling the car what the new ride heights are.

Sounds about right. All comes down to what the shops hourly is. But 2hrs is a generous amount of time for anyone to do the fronts.

Are you doing the alignment the same day as install? I was going to wait a week or two and see how mine settle.
