I initially hated the grille, but can now live with it.
What bothers me more about the M4 is the lack of fender flaring, it's very tame and boring. I wouldn't necessarily pay to change the front, but I like the wide DTM style fenders for sure. |

BMW design reigns superior to this - this concept seems more porker than buck teeth (personally think rabbits are more beautiful than pigs, though pigs are very smart animals)
Likely that we'll all look back a year from now and say "wow it's really grown on me", really just an acceptance cycle |

For the same reason, BMW's new design "change" is not inherently "good." Some change is bad. That is the case for many of us with the design of the grills on the M3/4. Many of us aren't fans, and would like an opportunity to improve its appearance with an aftermarket modification, just as we have done for years. This aftermarket design options shown here are also "change." And I like some of them! Sign me up. I would purchase a front end kit like this! To me, it is no different than other cosmetic upgrades I've purchased over the years. Just another "mod" to improve the appearance of my ride.

Those body kits look pretty damn good to me and cost seems fair. If you can afford 100k car then you there is now an option to change the front if you hate it that much. See... money can buy happiness lol.
I'll wait and see if new grill "grows" on me. In meantime I really REALLY love my F80 M3CS in both performance and design. No need for me to change anything for a few years. |

I wonder how many people truly like the car/design versus the reality that the current gen will depreciate more and be more handily available to anyone that can afford a 40k car. This suddenly makes the new m3 more attractive and it’s easier to forgive the design language. There are plenty of people that buy the car for perceived “status” and will make the switch to the new 90+k m3 to flex in the new gen.
My question would be if you removed all the badges and didn’t know it was the new gen BMW m3- what will the reaction on the design language be then? I’ve grown to like to the car but have convinced myself it’s not worth a first year swap from my 18. I could payoff my f80 in another 2 years and then consider hopefully the lci m3 or g87 m2 to drive alongside the f80. |

Much better! BMW hire this team! My first reaction in seeing this - wow! I'd buy one in a second. This is the first time since the E46 I am not getting a 3/4 M series to replace my last car (going to a F87 CS instead).

The poor thing still needs a better hood. I still cant understand who thought "Yeah these indents in the hood look great". A power dome is needed.

I think it's important to remember that some of the most beautiful or iconic car designs likely (not absolutely) required no "warm up" or appreciation over time.
As you're driving down the road in your shiny new 100k dollar ///m remember that people are likely going to have the same initial reaction to your car that you had when you first saw the reveal. Whether you care or not is a different conversation, though I'd be willing to bet almost everyone cares to at least a small extent. |

Gets people who were not even going to buy one anyway to come and talk about how they don't like it; more traffic to the site from Facebook etc.

You’re certainly not buying it based on driving, right? It’s 3900 pounds + and there are no reviews or feedback/track times to really determine how well the car drives in comparison to the outgoing gen. So to me anyone that is onboard this early wants to pump up their IG following and be the first on the road with them My initial reaction was poor- I’ve warmed up to it but there’s still times I see it on video or photos where I’m still like wtf happened, that would suck to have that reaction after you’ve committed to the car . |

It's the only objective measure we have at the moment.
Who's comment is more logical: My comment that the majority of people like/love the grilles (57.7 to 42.3% is statistically significant), or the guy who said "I want to see all the G8x owners stick to their original lung grills and not upgrade. It'll be the new 'I swear I'm not buying one.'" This is not my poll but I did vote in it early. At 20 votes it was 60% liked/loved it. As the voting has increased 10 fold the results have only changed by 2.3%. At some point, well before the reveal, it became quite fashionable to hate on the new grilles. Everyone was tripping over their own d*cks to make the witty grille joke. It was and is pretty sad to me.

I'll also put out a disclaimer that I don't really mind it that much and still plan to buy a G22, and have stated numerous times on these forums that I think people are fussing too much over it. 95% of the time you're going to be feeling how it drives and looking at the interior, not looking at the grill from the outside. So please don't think I'm just a random grill hater here, you can go through my post history if you want. |
