I agree. I chose the M4 because of the sleek roof line.
My M2C had a green house profile that is somewhat similar to the G80, so I wanted a change.
People call is big, huge, bloated, blah, blah... but it sure looks beautiful to me

Good question! Because BMW doesn't sell manual M cars in China, the only way to get around it is to buy a car from another market and import it by myself! That explains why my car is sitting at the NJ port now!

Only got to drive it a little cause I dropped it off this morning for PPF. I love it, it's fast and just a crazy fun car to drive

BMW ditched all manual M cars in China since F82 LCI and currently we can only buy G80/G83/G82 8AT from BMW dealers. However we can also buy cars though "parallel import" from companies that are eligible to import cars buy themselves. This is a life saver for enthusiast because we can get any new cars like corvette, raptors, etc. after paying taxes, documentations, and inspections. As far as I know I will be the second G80 6MT owner in China if everything goes right!

Everything else was booked until 2022. Seems they are swamped between now and end of year.

Very high risk, if the US dealership gets caught allowing this, then BMWNA will come down hard on them. I know that I have to sign a waiver that I will not export out of the US. I assume this is a all cash deal.

Congrats, as I have come to realize that I will be taking delivery next year in 2022 for a PCD.

My previous ED F83 was produced July 2017 and sat in Germany until the end of September 2017 for my ED date to coincide with Oktoberfest, so I'm used to the car sitting around. Then I didn't take US redelivery until December 2017. That was a very long wait.

The import is conducted by a third party company not the dealer. Someone has to pickup the car from the dealer just like a normal buyer and drive it to the designated boat to China. As long as the total mileage is less than 300km then everything will be fine. Therefore, technically no one is exporting new car from the US, and that is how cars like Corvette, Hellcat, Viper are imported to China.

Brought the car home last night.
I consider myself to be quite tech savvy, but it took me a while to navigate through some basic settings of the car lol.
This will take some getting used to.
Only drove 17 miles back home, so I couldn't tell much but it definitely drives different than my previous M2C.
The M2 had more road noise, felt more visceral and raw.
The G82 on the other hand, feels more subdued and grown up(?), muted even.
Ride is firm, but not harsh. A huge plus in terms of stability around corners with rough surface.
I think I prefer the more aggressive brake feel on the M2C.
Then again, it's been 3 months since I sold my M2 so I can't exactly do a side-by-side comparison.

There were some other Ms sharing the show room with my car
I was surprised how good the SPY paint looked in person.
And that M5 CS... just wow.

Your car looks great. That's good you were able to avoid the stop sale. Mine is still watching the boats come in at port waiting on whatever is needed to fix it. We will have to meet up at some point since we are close. Enjoy the car.
