Time from Allocation to at the Dealer

Hello, I received an allocation 9/2/23 for my G82 build. Can anyone please provide a brief summary of the next steps? When my G80 came before I didn’t pay much attention and there seem to be numerical codes I don’t understand. Any sort of rough timeline for how long I am looking at until it’s at the dealer to set my expectations will be helpful. I understand this timeline is variable, especially since I have an individual color build, but appreciate any information. Thank you

My ‘23 G80 comp-x was well optioned but no special order equipment and took just 77 days from allocation to pickup. AW/SS Exec, carbon inside, lumbar seats, no carbon outside.

I had a Week 25 allocation and wanted to keep the delivery date. Initially when I asked for an OW interior it was blocked, so I had SS as my backup plan.

I probably have the fastest time. I ordered in 2021 when they first became available. I found a dealer with an allocation in 112 status that had a buld week in the next month. My timeline includes west coast delivery which adds a trip through the Panama Canal.

ordered 2/26 Status 112
3/2 Changed wheels from 18/19" (824M) to 19/20" 826M Black
3/3 Status 150 Estimated completion changed from 3/26 to 3/15. Related to wheels???
3/15 Production done, dispached from factory
3/18 At the port
3/25 In transit
4/13 Panama Canal
4/21 Port Hueneme
4/21 At VPC
4/23 At dealer
4/24 Pickup

2 months is quick! I bet it's because of an end-of-the-month order that got you a march allocation schedule pretty quick. That 3/26 date sounds sketch. If you had an actual production date, you'd have been 150 already which wouldn't have allowed you to make any changes. I'm guessing that's just an estimate that someone told you.

The dealer with an allocation was 100 miles away. 2/26 is the day I first talked to the dealer by phone. I gave him a credit card number for a $1000 refundable deposit. I also gave him a build code from the the BMW "build your own" dialog. I originally had configured with the 18/19 wheels. The next day it went to 112 status and I was given a production number. I got a build week at that point. On 3/2 I heard there was a delay related to the smaller wheels and I asked to change to 19/20. It was still 112 so it got changed and it went to 150 the next day. Like I said, things happened quickly.

Yup you'll get a build week almost immediately, but you wouldn't get a production date, specifically, until you get to status 150, which would mean no changes, was my point.

Yeah things for BMW seems to be moving a LOT faster now a days.

I ordered and cancelled a M4x Comp in Oct 2021 (due to chip shortage). On August 30th, 2023 last week I walked into my dealership and placed and order and had an allocation the next day on August 31st, 2023.

If I hadn’t changed my interior, I would have gone from 111 status and order to delivery in about 50 days, provided my car moved on the same track as most of the week 29 deliveries. It’s all about what week you’re in when your build is submitted.

My most recent order was quick. Allocation was like mid June, and delivery was late August here in Pennsylvania.

Mine was just under 4 months. Allocation received 2/4, color accepted 2/7, built first week of April, arrived at the dealer 6/1.

Long-ish waits in my case were 13 days in quality check, and 3 weeks waiting for a boat.
