San Marino Blue @ $5,500?

I've already ordered the car and put a $5,000 deposit down. I was just told from my CA to expect a charge for $5,500 for San Marino Blue sometime this upcoming week. I thought this color was $4,500 on G80s and $5,000 on F80s?

Apparently M vehicles with special options i.e., carbon buckets, carbon ceramics, require $5,000 (at this dealership).

All individual colors should be 4500. It will be 4500 on your window sticker, so im not sure how the dealer can mark it up to 5500.

When you say expect a charge sometime this week, i hope that doesnt mean they are charging you an additional 5500 deposit for the individual color before your car arrives.
That is absolutely not the norm, even for a individual color, and I would retrieve any already given deposit immediately and find a dealership that is not trying to scam me.

I've had this situation a couple of times as a client advisor, sometimes Specific colors that require a bit more logistic work from BMW to acquire are marked up more than the normal amount (very rare case). I would just go ahead and double-check the window sticker when it comes in.

Different dealers will take different deposit amounts depending on the car, how many allocations they have, etc.

My local dealer was also $5000 deposit for any individual/special order colors. This was similar at other dealers I called. If you had lower for individual/special order, consider yourself lucky.

As far as the price, my dealer did a $5,500 quote as well. However, this was just an internal (to the dealer) system tracking thing (because more expensive models actually do cost $5,500 for individual/special order), and once BMW sent them the order back for confirmation, it listed $4,500 as the price, and they adjusted it.

I would just confirm it with them and get it in writing.

Yea deposit is whatver. If u for sure gonna but the car doesn’t really matter. But if they trying to make an extra $1k on the paint color it would be NO go for me. Just check with them by showing them that pricing guide. Go from there.

Yeah I honestly would look elsewhere and get your deposit back. Paying a deposit is not unusual but what they are doing to you is. It doesn't matter what color you pick but if that color is on the list of colors on the visualizer it is $4500 dollars for the G80. There is no getting a quote. That is what the price is from BMWNA. If they are making you put down an additional deposit of 5500 run away. That means you are putting down a 10,500 deposit. I have never seen someone put down something higher than a $5k deposit unless it was a paint to sample type of color which San Marino Blue is not. I can hook you up with my CA if you want to just PM me. They are trying to make you pay more. This is the type of dealer that charges fees for absolutely nothing....aka there will be a transaction fee, a process fee, my time working fee.....lol. Sorry you have to deal with that.

I'm thinking OP misunderstood what the CA was saying. No dealer would ever make someone pay in advance for an individual color, and the price is going to be $4,500, definitely, no matter what the CA says.

The CA has since replied to me and said he made a mistake on the estimate because he didn't have the price sheet in front of him. $4500 is what it ended up costing (as it should). Also in my post I said the deposit was $5,000 (as per the agreement given the special options in my build, carbon buckets), but the standard $1,000 was charged on my card. So all is well and everything ended up being standard.

In the pan handle of FL. They ended up charging me $1,000 not $5,000 without me having to say anything.

When I put in my individual they said the same thing to me. I told them that it was 4500. And they said they made a mistake and I was correct.
