Are Allocations still hard to come by?

Are Allocations still hard to come by? Or long wait list?

I have reached out to about 5 dealers in the NY/NJ area and all of them seem to have allocations or just a 2-3 person wait list.

I already have secured mine few months ago through BMW Manhattan

Good timing on this question. My 22 is coming due 8/24 so I put a refundable deposit 2 months ago because the dealers around me (in Westchester, NY) were telling me the list is about a year. What a load of crap. Less than 2 months later my allocation came through but I told them to save it for next May for the 25s.

People are generally going out of their way to find allocations on here rather than wait for a local dealer. If you can call a dealer and find one, then good, otherwise you can contact someone like Day Laborer to commission an allocation but it may not be anywhere close to your local area.

Maybe the Ordering/Purchasing/Leasing forum would have had better answers.

When I inquired a couple weeks ago, 2-3 dealers told me that they did not have an allocation for an M3 and the wait would be 6 - 12 months and to plan for a 2025 model year delivery. Another dealer said that they will like receive an allocation soon, and so if I was interested, I would be first on their list. Luckily, I found a dealer that had an allocation and secured it with a deposit about 10 days ago.

I’m looking for an allocation. Some dealers have said 1-2 people waitlist - oct-dec allocation. Others are still saying 1-2 year wait list.

Please let me know if you hear of an allocation.

OP told you he got an allocation around NY/NJ. That’s not very far from VA. Maybe you need to just make some more phone calls.
There are allocations thought out it’s not how it used to be. If you are serious about buying just expand you search zone.

Yeah, good idea. I’ll knock some calls out tomorrow.

I just called my local dealer (BMW Portland) and they had an allocation for me on that first call. I think I got lucky — he said someone had just dropped their M3 allocation. It also went to 112 status in under 24 hours so I didn’t have much time to consider my build 😆

Make calls to dealerships until you get a “yes, we have one open”, working outward from your location. Google Maps is a good search, zooming out as you go.

Option 2 (my Option 1) was to hit up Day Laborer for a sure score, and pay his small fee. I had my car built and deliver in 10.5 weeks!

I went to my dealer in Connecticut about 3 weeks ago, placed my order and had a production number less than a week later

i will chime in and say hans, Day Laborer, reached out to me immediately after i emailed him, and within an hour my car was being ordered from a dealer within a reasonable drive’s distance (under 200 miles). this was after i gave up on my year old deposits at other dealers. i now have a car for a september build and likely december delivery! call hans!

I ordered my M4 a couple weeks ago and they had an allocation that was set for production in september, so I lucked out.

He is great! He found me one immediately for a G82, but in Maryland. I waited 6 weeks and got one here in Austin. I didn't want to deal that far away. But yeah, he's plugged in!

Not sure where you all are looking but the M4 is pretty damn common. 3 verts and a stripped coupe for sale that can be taken home today at dealerships within a 20 mile radius of me. Even found a used 22 loaded with every option with 14k miles for 80 grand.

M3....little harder to find but not that hard.

You all need special colors or something?

Except the G83, all models are pretty tough around Austin. It's all timing, however. You just have to make the calls and keep your name out there. I got a call out of the blue from BMW of College Station in July and an M3 allocation was offered as someone backed out. I passed as I prefer more local and I like the styling of the M4 a bit better.

There is nothing wrong with putting your name on a list. That's what I did and got an allocation 6 weeks later. Easy enough.

Thanks. I’ve got Hans at NextLevel working for me. He found a week 42 build 2 hours from my house.
