M3 Carbon Bucket "Wait List" Roll Call

If you optioned your pending M3 build with carbon buckets, post here. Many of us are aware of the rollercoaster that is the M3 carbon bucket availability at the moment, so this thread will serve as a place for all to post new developments (and vent frustrations.)

Let us know your upcoming production week and build status. If you recently hit 150 status, been delayed altogether or want to share your journey to this point, be sure to post.

I’ll kick it off:

Week 30; 112 status.

I’m hoping for some good news this week with a VIN, but we shall see…

I look forward to seeing these posts and good luck everyone!

Week 36, status 111, individual color and buckets of course. Talked with genius on Friday with no big updates at that time.

Thanks for starting this thread… As of tonight, Status 112, Genius says Week 29…

Here’s my journey…

MY24 Base M3 (Manual), Tanzanite, Black Carbon Buckets, Lasers, Executive…

Timeline:
11/19/22: Placed deposit and put on the waitlist
3/04/23: Received allocation and production number - status code 111
5/11/23: Status Code: 112
5/11/24: Status Code 105
5/12/23: Dealer call… No Carbon Buckets, change to standard seats or MY24?
5/12/23: Decision to keep Carbon Buckets and give up MY23 allocation
5/16/23: Confirmed back on the waiting list with the dealer (Not super happy about that)
6/05/23: Contacted Next Level Brokers (Awesome! Wish I had done that earlier)
6/06/23: Secured MY24 Week 28 Allocation
6/07/23: Status Code: 111
6/15/23: Status Code: 112
6/25/23: Status Code: 111
6/26/23: Status Code: 112 (Called CA confirmed build week 28)
7/09/23: Status Code: 112 (Response from Genius “Production starts 7/18-7/22” Week 29?)

Still no Status 150 / VIN so thinking it is week 30 now or beyond. Starting to look at alternative options. Might jump back in after LCI.

zimmta Before your build got delayed, did you have the option to change back to the standard seats to ensure it got built on time?

I’m curious if there was any communication from your CA before you found out.

Yes, I was given the option to keep the allocation for MY23 build with standard seats; I passed. I actually worked for an automotive seating supplier for years and believe seats make a huge difference in the driving experience. I had Cobra R seats (made by Recaro) in a standard mustang GT and it transformed that car… This is a fun car for me and my kids, not a daily, so not willing to compromise…

Mine will be a daily, but darn it, I’m so enamored with these seats. lol I am hesistant though as time goes on, if holding out is worth it (for me), as the LCI looms.

I can totally appreciate the Cobra R Recaro reference because I actually drove a 2000 R back in the day. Beautiful car and I’d argue Ford has yet to recapture the presence that car had on the road. It commanded attention. I don’t even feel like current model GT500s do that, despite it running circles around the R performance wise.

So did you go back to the beginning of the wait list OR did they just put others in front of you and you're first in line when the buckets come back?

I can’t speak on behalf of zimmta but CAs can do what they want with who they give allocations to. If they decide to put you at the front of the list (or at the bottom), it’s their call.

I think the “right” thing is to keep you at the top, but I’ve heard some individuals say they didn’t have that experience and were pushed back a number of spots on the allocation WL.

Yeah... So my CA put me back on his list with a 4 to 6 month outlook on an allocation for a MY24. I thought that was crap because I had an allocation that wasn't built. They even changed my MY23 allocation to a different build for someone else (no carbon buckets). Giving it to someone else makes good business sense, but putting me at the back of the MY24 list doesn't. I confirmed I could get my deposit back at that point (which they refunded right away). That is when I called Next Level Auto Brokers and got an early MY24 build with a different dealer.

Walk through a bmw dealer on june 1st to get my girlfriend a new car, but ended ordered a M3 xdrive with carbon seats for myself. Got the VIN on June 22nd. I have no idea which is my build week, but I am stuck at “quality check” for 5 days now.
Is it a normal delay for that standing?

Maybe it’s because of the carbon seats?

I’m located in Canada.
Thanks!!

This is the inspiration we need in this thread! This is awesome.

If you got a VIN, you’re golden. It’s a done deal.

Are you aware of the drama with these buckets? Congrats!

Another question for you all:

Since getting MY24 allocations, who’s bucket option has been delayed in some capacity?

I’m not talking about having a MY23 allocation. Just MY24.

I almost dare say there are more people posting that they’re getting buckets built (ie. getting VINs) than not. I’m sure the limited population of posts are skewing results or maybe this is just wishful thinking, but I’m curious if anyone has similar thoughts.

What do you mean by MY23? Like not delayed by being converted to MY24, just strictly a 24 allocation with buckets that’s been delayed?

Happy for Samgaudreau and definitely gives me hope, but why are my24 allocations getting built before my23 converts with buckets?

Is it not a first in first out policy?
