There are many vette forums to do that on.
I own both so i was making the comparison. It's not up to me if people want to go off topic and discuss that further.

Plus, i'm not blind. I do see the indirect attacks on corvettes in random threads and i don't post in them. I just let it be. So it's not like i'm constantly searching for anyone to mention to word corvette and start debating with them.

If the discussion allows, i will mention it. I felt like it was appropriate to mention it in this thread because i am making the comparison between the 2 cars since i own both.

My car gets a fair amount of attention. I went to get my oil changed the other day and then went by the Chevy store to talk to one of my friends, only for us to come back outside to a guy running around my car, trying to make one of those flash swooping tick-tock videos, and he was a salesman.

Kind of weird, but, I don't usually get that much attention. They had 2 C8s sitting in the showroom.

I don't know about that. This Feb 2023, I turn 70 years old and drive a 2022 G83, which turns plenty of heads and gets a fair share of compliments,

Idk of any retired person saying YES i'm finally retired!!! Let me get my forever car, an M3!!!

All I said was you don't see Corvettes misbehaving. That's not a knock at all actually.

They have always represented a tremendous value in terms of dollars to performance, much like the M3.

Both cars suffer from stereotyping with regards to the drivers. I drive a BMW, but use my turn signals. On the other hand, I have chest hair but no gold chains. Or a toupee.

All good. It is a BMW forum, right?

Yes, slightly sarcastic. This IOMG is owned by Jim B he has some years on you and this is a manual. Jim is a trooper. Plus he's the photographer.

Can we I just take a moment to say that Dravit gray M4 looks amazing with the carbon ceramic brakes. I love how the gold matches in both.

I just saw this: we don't get Corvette in Australia - if it's selling for mid to high $100k in the US, it'll be over $400K Aussie dollars here (roughly USD$275k) - so none coming. We do get the M3 Touring though, so that's a bit of a small consolation 😅

I thought you'd enjoy this video

Stereotypes are begging to be kicked in the nuts. I probably have a few years even on Jim B., as well as a G82 IOMG over Tartufo that I track regularly. It gets lots of attention in parking lots, and even on the tracks that I drive. My track shirt reads "Grumpy Old Bastard... Approach With Caution.

It's any age group.

I'm on the C8 FB page and every couple of days you have a "first time corvette owner", and they post their 2023 C8.

Kids these days, all they know is the C7, maybe the C6 and the C8. It's a car they want NOW, any generation corvette although most likely C6 and newer.

MIddle age, older people, and retired people choose a corvette as their car of choice for life during retirement. Doesn't matter what generation or variant, it's a corvette. Hell some dude on the forum sold his C7Z and bought a built C6 ZR1. And he's 70 years old.

These cars are more special than people think. Same way as you M lifers think about your M cars. It's the same thing with corvettes. I was just saying older people that others here make fun of, they are getting corvettes. And they have money to get whatever. Could be an M5 or an M3 or whatever. And they are choosing corvettes. It's a special feeling owning an american icon with legendary engines in them.
I bought an f80 at 23 and a c5 z06 at 25 which I still have. 90% of the other corvettes I see are all older people. However, usually the c7s and c8s usually have more younger people driving

I'm not saying "never" in the literal sense. I'm just comparing it to the Corvette crowd, where when I had mine, at the time, being in my mid 40s, I went to a meetup and I was someone's grandson. The local guys I've met up with, driving this fine machine, I'm pretty sure I'm the oldest, and probably by more than a few years.

Bingo. That's why it's so odd that 911s get brought up in every M3 vs talk. Two completely different segments.

Lots of BMWs in Area

I have a 23 TR M4 and after a week I've had a lotus Evora blast by me and a guy in a parking lot stop me ask how I like it.

Not much else.

But I live about a mile from a large BMW dealer. There are more BMWs around than Chevrolets. There are also tons of trucks.

I've not seen any other M4s but have seen a few new style 430i and one M440i.

So in our area I don't think people notice BMWs except car people and there aren't many of those.

I've got a trip to Scottsdale next and let's see what happens there.
