I got a red carbon fiber one for my key. I think they look great!

This is the key to our 2014 X5 MSport. Pitty how BMW kept this old design for the G8x platform.

No pic but i just used whatever keychain my dealer gave me. I'll get rid of it when my lanyard comes in the mail (just a basic random car related lanyard).
Reason why i like lanyards because when i want to grab my fob out of my pocket, all i have to do is feel for the lanyard and pull out (only time i do). I found it much easier than to reach for the entire fob. |

How come everyone is using their key? I've been using my phone as my key since I got my car. Yes, it has some limitations, but I much prefer it over having to have the key in my pocket.
I think it's only currently available on iPhones, so that's one explanation. So…how come you're not? Haven't tried it? Tried it and prefer the key?

And then I can't get it to lock in any scenario. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong but I couldn't get it to work as-described. So I'm always worried about locking myself out / unable to lock and carrying my fob anyway…

Figured it was too finicky to give up the simplicity of comfort access. Would love to get it to work consistently though.

If you're motivated, you can ask the dealership for help. I think it's worth getting it set up, even if it's only as a backup.

Nothing fancy here, I like to keep my keys as minimal as possible. In my case, I have 4 cars and I swap cars often. I found these titanium mini clips online that allows me to quickly attach whatever keys I needed for the day. The tube contains earplugs because I suffer from severe hearing loss in my right ear and I want to protect what little I have left. You would be surprised how often we experience hearing loss levels of noise throughout the day!

I'm gonna make copies of all of the house keys I see in this thread. Gonna sneak in at night; move all of your furniture a little to the left.
