M4 Comp Xdrive Individual Ruby Star

Looking to place an order for a 2024 m4 Comp

looking to do PTS Porsche Ruby Star

I've reached out to multiple dealers in my area about the process of requesting this color and no one has concrete information about whether it's possible or not.

one dealer said a response takes 3 months ( which I don't really buy)

another said if I give them a 2500 deposit they will ask on my behalf to get the color, not sure if this is technically how it works either.

any dealers in the northeast with information about requesting colors that are not already part of the pre approved individual paints?

I have never heard of BMW doing PTS. I’ll post a link in a minute to the BMW individual paint visualizer. They have so many colors. It will make your head spin. Give me a couple of minutes.

Edit: Here you go!

I bet you’ll find something that you’ll like.

I believe any color that BMW hasn’t done in the past, the prices start at $7,500 and go up from there depending on the complexity of the color. As far as getting it approved, yes, it can take a fair amount of time if it is a color that isn’t on the list of already approved individual colors as linked in the prior post.

ETA: You’ll also need to find a dealer that not only knows what they are doing with regards to requesting the color but is also willing to put in the time and effort to put the request in for you. It is not unheard of BMW saying no the first couple of times they get asked but with a bit of perseverance it can be done.

I can help with this, both myself and one of the dealers I work with are very familiar with this process.

Good to know! This is all news to me.

Scott has helped me out before and I can vouch for his knowledge and efficiency.

Appreciate that!

I genuinely love doing individual cars, it's a lot of fun, so cool to see the final result of something totally unique. Sadly, many dealers look at it as a pain, but our dealer network doesn't fall into that category.

Need the 3 digit/character paint code. I've reached out to BMW in regards to doing something similar. It will be a very long process and was quoted I think $5K--I'll have to check my email at work on this. Obviously you'll need an allocation to start the actual process. In fact it might be 2 allocations (have to check)

So i went through this process only to get denied lol. But i was looking to do a paint to sample color that hasnt gotten done. I was looking to do Porsche Auratium Green. The cost IF approved is $4500. Which is awesome. Secondly they can only start the research if you have an allocation. It’s 5 months of research minimum and after that requires 16 week lead time for production.

My buddy has his 2023 allocation for almost a year now his car goes into production in october and he got that color approved for his G80

Also you will need to find a dealer that is willing to have an allocation tied up for a year.

I hope this helps !

Is there a list, beyond the website paint visualizer, of colors that have been done before and are available? My SA just said to look at the website. But the gentleman on this thread says his friend has that PTS green approved. That’s not on the visualizer, so curious to see if there are others that have been approved just not yet added, or older colors that have been done that aren’t in visualizer. Thanks!

The visualizer website is essentially the de facto list of individual colors that are very likely to be approved unless you come across one that they are retiring and haven’t removed it from the site. Outside of that, I don’t believe they publish a list of all colors that they’ve done over the years and it is just up to the individual to put the request in and see if they can get it approved.

to date, has anyone actually taken delivery of a unique color on the G8X platform? I didn't think about it at the time but would have loved a better brown than they offer.

Yea that’s what I figured. Would be fun to see a list of everything 😂

First thing is getting a good dealer that knows what they are doing when it comes to INDIVIDUAL. Many dealers don't even know that you can do stitching as an INDIVIDUAL option. All of these things are expensive and do take time. For a non pre-approved color you are probably looking at an extra 3-6 month wait on a "typical" allocation order. I also believe it is more than the $4500 for a color that hasn't been pre approved. Also as someone else said a lot of dealers just don't want to deal with the hassle and will tell you no or not possible. My advice is use a dealer that sells a lot of M cars (they will have more allocations) and from what I see on the road individual orders usually happen on M cars so they are more than likely to know the process. Good Luck!
