Bold of you to attempt to try and ask about scalping an M3 on an enthusiast forum. I hope you missed a "not" at the beginning of that sentence.

Just tell them you don't want it, get your deposit back. You're under no obligation to take delivery of the car until you sign a purchase contract.

No. These cars are not limited production, and allocations are getting easier to get.

Plus OP is unlikely to flip for a profit nowadays. Waitlists are much, much shorter, and demand is down dramatically. People who want this car can get it with some very limited exceptions. This isn't 2021 anymore.

Highly doubt you’d be able to turn it around and sell it for what you bought it for + TTL and collect a profit. But stranger things have happened…

I have had my M4 for a year now same dealer, and established a good connection with them.

Not a scalper I just go through cars quickly, was curious to see if the market is strong enough for me to break even on my investment or take a loss

I would love to give my allocation to someone who wants it , with maybe a slight kickback not asking for 10k over

Charging over MSRP/trying to profit on purchasing something you ultimately don't want = Scalping. That's it.

How about just giving up your allocation and giving it to the next person in line that actually wants the car and is waiting?

rarely am i interested in judging other people, especially on the internet...

but this is a line of thinking that just has no connective tissue to how my mind operates. if i built a custom ordered high demand car, like an m3, and then for whatever reason had to back out...how much better would it feel to be charitable and find someone to simply takeover your allocation? and this is to say nothing about why on earth you'd imagine you could profit on a depreciating asset in this market.

why not post your build, find someone who is waiting for that exact car, and coordinate to transfer the "rights" to the build, as it were. do you i guess, but that would be my two cents.

Buy the car and take a loss in six months. But why a M3 if you have an M4 now.

in 6 months , you are going to lose a lot money on the car
M3 are now at sticker
in 6 months , they will be below sticker , it is a matter of how much below

These are mass produced cars and they are easy to get. Think about it, just to break even you would have to sell your used car at MSRP + tax + fees. That’s if you bought it at purely MSRP in the first place.

Sorry man this ain’t a GT3 😊

Market has been on a downtrend since last Sep and you will be losing money when you try to sell it 6 months later. And trying to sell an allocation which you dont own, especially on a mass produced vehicle? Good luck!

Let someone else buy it from the dealership.
