No issues at cruise either. The burbles are louder and maybe last a little longer than stock, but nothing that's super obnoxious. Remote start still works too

I haven't thought to look at the boost pressures while pulling to see what they're doing though. If I remember to take my eyes off the road I'll take a look at that too.
Can’t you tune out the FN burbles!?!? It’s was cool for 5 minutes when the F8x’s came

Yes, when you purchase the tune you can purchase it with or without the burbles. It's actually extra $ for the burbles.

Is there a high-flow catted down pipe that works w/ the Carbahn tune? I know a catless voids warranty.

Using stock downpipes w/ a Carbahn tune seems like wasting HP.

Information out there says the stock downpipes flow pretty well up to a certain power level, but I believe that level is pretty far above what the Carbahn tune will produce.

Any aftermarket downpipe, with or without cars, is going to give you warranty issues. That probably includes the Carbahn warranty as well.

According to Carbahn it was an 11whp between stock downpipes amd catless.

Seems low to me but I guess they would know? Just going by past cars I’ve tuned. Never saw that small of a gain.

Modern catalysts are actually extremely efficient. Most newer platforms I've been involved with show minimal gains with downpipes.

Wow, there are a lot of people hating on this piggy back. Although I have many upgrades already installed and a ton of performance upgrades such as pure turbos and my transmission rebuild ready to go, i too am going to go with the Carbahn piggy back for the following reasons:

1. I already had an issue with my transmission leaking and want to keep as much of the warranty as possible.

2. Thompson BMW has a performance shop and will not give anyone a hard time with warranty issues as long as you follow their instructions.

3. If you haven’t tuned a car yet, unless you are an expert driver, it’s better to ease into all of the power of the g8x’s.

4. Having to do the FEMTO unlock will have you ready for a better tune software and map the second you hit your warranty time or miles

5. Unless you plan on tracking the car exclusively, or race for big dollars, this tune will allow you to use your car as a daily driver safely

6. I see a lot of 700HP+ tunes without all of the necessary OEM upgrades that will definitely lead to a catastrophic failure. This tune allows for the car to function within the OEM specs or Carbahn wouldn’t offer the warranty, while giving you a low 10s 1/4 and mid 2s on your 0-60 times.

7. I see aggressive tunes with street tires all of the time get smoked because they can’t keep the car on the road, more power doesn’t always equate to more wins.

That’s my take on this post. Thanks for the video and draggy times. Hopefully I see you at the next meet in Philly or Jersey.

Correction:
Looks like switching from Carbahn to BM3 may require another unlock. Sucks!!!

January 22nd is my schedule date for the Femto unlock and Carbahn tune. Thompson is claiming a bump to 632 Wheel Horse Power on an XDrive. I will be putting the car on the dyno after the tune and see exactly what we get.

Also I opted to keep my CSF heat exchanger instead of using the Carbahn Heat exchanger. Right now I’m clocking 3 seconds on my 0-60 times using a P3 guage. I’ll post my draggy times before and after the tune.

You're going to love the car with the Carbahn tune. The claimed horsepower from the dealer is 30HP more than what Carbahn claims on their website of 602whp & 548 ft lbs of torque. Either way the performance gain is substantial in my opinion. For example my car ran 10.9@124mph stock and 10.52@131.xxmph tuned. A half second quicker and over 7mph gain in the quarter mile is huge.

632 comes from the 93 Octane RWD numbers on the Stage 2 software.

Car is dismantled right now. As soon as they put it back together I’m taking it to run the Dyno. Will have air intake, charge pipe, exhaust and cooling. I’ll check the results pre and post Carbahn and let’s see what they are really putting out.

If I have a sec, I’ll run some dragy numbers too. Hopefully there isn’t a foot of snow on the ground.

He has an xDrive so not sure why the dealer quoted the 93oct RWD numbers.

I asked if there was a software change that affected the numbers, they said no. I am going to assume that they made a mistake and quoted the RWD wheel horse power. Regardless, Labworx is going to do a dyno pull next Wednesday before the tune and then another one after. We will see how aggressive the Carbahn tune really is. Stay tuned.

That’s great to hear! Dyno numbers before & after are helpful in providing an accurate picture of the performance gains. Not just peak power but also the gains across the rpm range.
This is where the Carbahn tune really shines in my opinion. The HP & TQ gains across the rev range really helped the car accelerate in all conditions.

Why would AWD hp be different than RWD? The engine is identical. Any power adder in X Drive can be replicated in RWD. The added AWD hardware adds nothing to the engine output. Or did I miss something?

AWD has more parasitic drag than it’s RWD counterpart and therefore will reduce WHP.
