M3 G80 xDrive - Project Inquisitor
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com in this thread I would like to share my project details, experience and of course results. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Platform: BMW M3 G80 Xdrive Current modifications
Performance - Stage 2 (engine) ca. 770 hp (engine) ca. 950 nm / 700 lbf-ft 1/4 mile: stable low 10s (10.2-10.3) *non prept surface with street tires 100-200 kmh: stable 5.3-5.4s (60-130 would be around 6.00) *Custom Map is final, but no time to do proper run Performance - XW12 Turbo Setup ... coming soon Timeline modifications 1. Engine Management - Manhart MHTronik Powerbox Experience: This is very interesting powerbox. Easy installation, there is an option to switch maps via manual switch on the device. Worked like a charm, no check engines or whatsoever. Negativ point is that there is no monitoring/logging option. You really don't know what is happening. Performance: adds between 75 and 100 whp (in my case base dyno showed around 470 whp and with the Manhart 545 whp; a friend of mine installed one too and base run showed 450 whp and with Manhart 545 whp). 1/4 mile was stable 10.7X-10.8X 2. Intake - Eventuri Experience: High quality product. Easy installation. Looks really good and it makes such a addictive sound Performance: To be honest I couldn't notice much of a difference. [B]Sold: Because we are going twin frame, I don't need the Eventuri anymore and was sold. 3. Exhaust - R44 Sportcat Downpipes and Titanium Exhaust Experience: High quality product. Easy installation. Looks really good. Sound is for my taste very close to perfect. On closed valve it feels very much like stock, but open the valves and the M3 sounds like it should have sound from the factory. Performance: Just the hardware in combination with the Eventuri and Manhart added 35 whp (on base Manhart map) and 45 whp (on the more aggresive Manhart map, which is for cars with modified exhaust systems). 1/4 mile was stable 10.5X-10.6X 4. Fuel-It! Flex Fuel Kit Experience: High quality product. Easy installation. Very helpful to monitor the E-Mix content. Mobile App works like a charm. Performance: - 5. Engine Management - BMS JB4 (replaced the Manhart MHTronik) Experience: High quality product. Installation is little bit more complex than Manhart, but still relativ easy. Very good support by BMS! Allows more flexibility and monitoring in comparison to Manhart. Performance: - Map 2 showed 560 whp (stock run 450 whp) and it avg over 550 whp between 5500-6800 rpm). Times were similar to Manahrt. Map 6 (Custom) on E30-E40 was running 27psi from 4500 to 6500 and was very nice low torque midrange. Showed 600 whp (stock run 450 whp) and the car did best time at that moment 10.36 1/4 mile and mid 5s 100-200 kmh. 6. Gearbox Management - xHP Stage 3 Experience: - Very good upgrade for G8X platform. Easy to install and modify some settings. Best gain at the moment for me is the rev limiter modification. Based on the dyno numbers, my car is droping alot of power after 6800, so I've changed the rev limiter to 6900 rpm (stock is 7100-7200). Performance is definitely better (more avg power on full throttle). Gearchange is chrisp and fast. I love it! Performance: - Without xHP my best 100-200 kmh (60-130 mph) times were in LC mode. G8X is running different settings when in launch control. With xHP this is no longer the case. I am running now better times from rolling in 3rd and full throttle. Launch is also better and one can play with the settings to get optimal start for the modifications. 7. Engine Management- Femto Unlock Experience: - Initially I was worried how it will go. Contacted Femto (really nice guy!). Very clear process, everything well explained. I've send the DME in the afternoon, next day Femto wrote me back, that is ready and my DME was on the way back. (under 24h to be on the way back to me)!!! Everything was perfect! Really great experience! Performance: - 8. Engine Management - MHD (replaced the BMS JB4) Experience: - At first I wanted to go with bm3. Even ordered licence from UK, but the shop at some point told me they can not deliver and refunded my money. I decided to go with Tuner in Germany (point 9) and they work with MHD, so I went with MHD. Really great product. No issues, easy to log, easy to monitor ... definitely one of the greates product for flash tuning on the market. They added me to a test group and lots of info and stuff is going there. Performance: - 9. Engine Management- MHD (custom tune by Pureboost) Experience: - After looking for a tuner I've decided to go with Pureboost. They are based in Germany and it is good for me, because of the timezone. They also already tuned lots of bmws and lots of g8x cars. So I ordered 2 maps (pump for daily and E50 for racing). Just several points about their way of tuning a.) Fast reposnce! b.) Tune safe! c.) I always got my revision in the same day, after I've sent logs! d.) Got some info about harware modifications (based on their experience) e.) As long as I was not happy, they modified my maps without any addition charge or something f. ) We did remote dyno session! I was on the dyno and sending logs and getting adhoc revisions/feedback Performance: - I must say the car runs much better/smoother on custom tune, then on stock map. Map one (Pump) - around 580 whp (base run stock 450 whp). Few day ago I did some test and got 6.0 100-200 kmh and 10.55 (with bad start 1.69 60ft) (on the street with winter tyres). Map two (E50) - around 650 who (base run stock 450 whp). My final revision is still to be tested. On one of the first revision I did 10.19 1/4 mile (winter tyres on the street). Running stable 5.2 100-200 kmh 10. Exhaust - Modified R44 System by Driftcrimes Fabrications Experience: - R44 exhaust system is great, but a little bit louder for my taste. Especially when driving highway with kid and wife between 120-150 kmh lots of noise. This is why I decide to go for custom 3.5" single midpipe (similar to active autowerk) but shorter, because I wanted to use as much as possible from the R44 exhaust. I will poste some images in different post in this thread. Performance: - no difference to standard R44 exhaust 11. Engine - Rods and Pistons from IRP Experience: - Great product! Perfect fitment! Same weight as the OEM Rods and Pistons - perfect balance! Absolutely zero issues. Performance: - ...coming soon (we are still not making enough power, to tell if they hold ... but soon) 12. Cylinder Head - Optimisation (Valve Springs with TI Retainers from VAC Motorsport) Experience: - We did port and combustion chamber rework. We reduced little bit the CR from 9.3:1 to 9:1. So far zero issues. Performance: - On the benchflow we saw a decent increase in flow. However because of the lowered CR, we can't tell how much (hp wise) we gained. 13. Hardware - RK Autowerks Billetmanifold Experience: - Great product! Perfect fitment! Zero issues! Performance: - So far works like a charm. Unfortunately I couldn't make decent compare to OEM manifold an IATs results. 14. Hardware - RK Autowerks Portinjection Experience: - ...coming soon Performance: - ...coming soon 15. Portinjection Management - Motiv ReFlex Experience: - ...coming soon Performance: - ...coming soon 16. Watermethanol Injection - Snow Performance WMI + PMI Experience: - coming soon Performance: - coming soon 17. Gearbox - Upgrade by Martin Mader Experience: - Perfect job by Martin! Gearbox works like a charm. Performance: - So far the gearbox is a monster. Soon we will push the car above 1000 hp and I can share some more experience. 18. Wheels - LF-1 19" Forged Wheels by Haimusracing Experience: - Great quality, very very strong wheels and they look nice. Performance: - I got the very rigid type (960 kg per wheel) and still we got around 1kg weight reduction. Soon I will get the 890 kg version of the wheels and we will see more unsprang weight reduction. *Haimusracing will make for me a special rear wheels drag setup, which I will test next year. 19. Tires - Yokohama Advan A052 275-35-19 Experience: - I love the Yoko. They put the power down. Great tires! Performance: - Without much of a preparation I dropped instantly around 0.1s (60 ft) compared to the Michelin 4S. Those Yoko tires love to grip! 20. Engine Management - bm3 (replaced the MHD) Experience: - Great product, like the MHD. Main point currently to go for bm3 was the map switch. Performance: - So far good experience. Only issue is, that I can't flash older revision on my own. The tuner must send it to me. (This is not the case with MHD). 21. Engine Management- bm3 (custom tune by ODINtuned) Experience: - Odin is really a great tuner! I love working with him. Performance: - ...coming soon 22. Turbos - Xona Twin Turbo Frame Kit Experience: - Oh man ... I will link a thread I will write soon Performance: - ...coming soon Modifications in progress XX. LPFP Upgrade - Second LPFP Pump with own fuel lines for the PI Experience: - ...coming soon Performance: - ...coming soon Planed modifications XX. Brakes - Modified Iron Cast Brake System Experience: - ...coming soon Performance: - ...coming soon XX. Body - Carbon hood, trunk and fenders Experience: - ...coming soon Performance: - ...coming soon

For my taste yes (and I am running sportcat DP too). Wife wasn't happy on our journies. But the single midpipe fixed everything. I will write Zack and tell him to start offering option with single midpipe.

On sport/sport+ is little bit more fun and gearbox is thanks to xHP more crisp and kicks little bit. The difference is when boost comes, you feel like teleporting 😂 About the costs … all parts are bolt on (except the tune and custom midpipe) and you can check the prices online. The tune cost me so far around 800 usd and custom single midpipe 750 usd

Love the detail you go into with the mods and reviewing bro, Make sure to send over some sound clips of the single mid pipe. It is something we have in development so hopefully we can offer this to order soon.

Hello community,
few week ago we managed to fulfill mission #Chasing9. We ran a 9.99 1/4 mile @ ~ 143 mph despite the poor start (1.72s 60ft) *stock wheels 19/20, Michelin PS4S, full weight, no carbon brakes, no carbon seats With that said, it is time to move to the next level. Step 1: Engine will be upgraded (new rods and pistons), check and replace what is necessery. Install RK Manifold, RK PI, Motiv Reflex, Snow Performance WMI + PMI. Step 2: I've decided to go for a custom build twin turbo frame kit. We will use Xona Turbos. More details will come, when we start developing it. Step 3: Upgraded Gearbox to handle the torque. I will post as much details from the development process as possible.

The new wheels coming soon.
19” square setup by haimusracing Shaving more than 16 lbs of unsprung weight 😈 I will weight the OEM wheels tyre combo and compare it to those nice forged wheels and new tyres (I am trying the Yokohama Advan A052).
