OP here-

Update- standard seats are amazing.. long story short, I am 29 and lean and my main concern was getting in and out of the car as often as I do.

My thoughts are - If you are looking for a "dramatic" showtime feeling upon entering and driving, carbon all day. I do believe the center of gravity is more defined in the carbon seats as well...This is my only car so my decision was easier. Seeing posts of guys selling because of Carbon seats is heart breaking, but no denying they are going to provide the full experience

So he can smoke rarri's off the line at stoplights at 10am and still make it to big bear safely to snowboard / ski by 1pm.

I spent two hours in the M3 doing the track portion at the Performance Delivery Center in Spartanburg. That particular car did have the Carbon Fiber bucket seats. They are great for track purposes. But I'm so glad that I chose not to get them on my M4. Getting in and out on a daily basis wouldn't be fun for me and I'm not tall. They look great though!

I had about 1,200 miles on the car and sold it solely because of the crappy seating.

I found an allocation and ordered a 2022 M4 Comp. Xdrive with the standard seats. As it turns out the new car was about $2k less in price because of my not ordering the sport seats. I'll have the new car in about 3 weeks.
My wife and I cancelled an M5 CS order cause of the buckets (after sitting in them). Completely unusable as a daily driver, and I'm normal build 6'0" 175lb.

What a bunch of wimps.

I'm 6'2 220 and have 11k miles in 7 months.

These seats are not "unusable" that to me is completely comical to hear.

Mf's lying to themselves in here.

I gotta be honest , after sitting in an M5CS today ( I have an M3C on order with buckets )
I thought they were cool but not very fitting for a 5 series , but it is when I tried to get out of the car where I was super turned off lol.
I'm 6'3 200 pounds , typical slim build.
So they were snug and perfect but exiting the car is a bitch with those seats.

This coming from the guy whose avatar says "Keep calm and block haters"? Got it.

To each their own. AWD in San Diego -- why not? I have AWD in the SF Bay Area and I give zero sh*ts about racing people at stoplights. It's about what options I want in a car, first. And secondarily it's about having four wheels to put all that power down. Simple.

It really depends on what you use your car for. As an example, if you daily your car and have work clients that have to ride with you, having the carbon bucket seats could be an issue.

Huh? I also ordered an X drive M3. I'm not sure what my quote has to do with anything.

Yeah if you're a realtor the buckets are a no go.

Standard seats are fantastic you can't go wrong with those. I can't speak to the CFBs but I'm guessing from others reactions here that it depends on your size/shape and if you can deal with the center bump. I wouldn't order without sitting in them to confirm.

6' 1" and 195 lbs. Average build, and let me tell you, these carbon bucket seats were the best option I added to the car.

I daily the thing. It hasn't even been more than a month since I took delivery of my M3 xDrive, and I've already added 2700 miles onto it.

Getting in and out was a learning curve, but it's definitely not as difficult as some of the people on this forum make it out to be. These seats are incredibly comfortable for me, and I don't feel fatigued even after 7-hour road trips.

haha well... I was driving an AMG c63s tuned that could never put down the power, constant slip and became quit frustrating tbh- it always cut the power even with setting traction nearly off (1-10 traction gage)

When I saw the new g80 was able to have the best of both worlds, I HAD to have it. Really excited to get past break-in to throw this thing into some corners and stay glued to the ground on launch.

Yes, I'm in real estate so the Carbon Bucket Seats are no for my line of work.

Makes sense, I have owned E36, E46 and E90 M3's, never had an issue with traction or putting power down. I didn't realize that has become an issue with the newer F80 and G80 models, but for me even if that was the case, I'd still want the purity and tossability of RWD over the traction of AWD.

Traction hasn't been an issue and I'm making about 600

BMW just built different it seems, I'm excited as this is my first M car. The fact that I can have AWD and RWD with a click of a button is just "more" for me to experience at the end of the day. Safe driving out there!

Just got my break-in service done, so put about 1100 miles on the car since I got it on Christmas eve. I have no idea what people are complaining about. The CF buckets are amazing. They're very comfortable and idk who has issues getting in and our of them, particularly for the driver. My GF has to do a little back hop and bounce/scooch over the bottom bolster to get in, but that's because she's 4'11 and has the seat up fairly high so she can see out of the car.

They're awesome seats.

I have bucket seats on my 1M…in a tight parking space any seat bolstering on the lower seat makes it tougher to get in and out in tight spaces where you can not open your door very much.

I have not sat in the new CFB, but the seat (hip/bottom) bolstering is very aggressive looking and I anticipate a tight opening would be troublesome.
