They actually made a movie about that with Vince Vaughn 10 years ago. The development of a combustion engine sound for EV’s was a side plot but it was interesting.

Very raspy at low RPMs.
Sounds great under load.
Can do without the burbling.

Overall, is it worth the price of a Submariner?

Yes. The Dilemma. That's the first thing that came to mind for me as well.

Agreed, but many of us believe it was to comply with various statutes governing exhaust noise levels, as opposed to a conscious decision to neuter the sound.

As someone said, the X3 M40i has more aggressive burbles than the G80/G82. Something happened here. They made the car as aggressive looking and (many would say riced out), only to make it sound like an Oldsmobile?

OPF is for diesel engines (Otto), GPF/PPF (Gas/Petrol) is for gasoline engines depending on what country you're in. PPF happens to be the same acronym as Paint Protection Film but the person you quoted had it right.

I don't know where you guys are getting this 10K number from. I haven't gotten the final price sheet and options sheet from Akra but I would assume its going to be very similar price to the F8x system. Hell I could be wrong but the Slovenian's know how to price their systems without going over the top. It is the highest quality exhaust money can buy so it will always be expensive.

Exactly what Jeff said as well as others.

The Akrapovic exhaust (slip-on and evolution mid pipes) for the F90 retails just under $7500, so I'm not sure what the basis is for a $10K price since there is no precedent for it anywhere. The most expensive Akrapovic BMW system is for the M8 and it retails at just over $9K.

There may be cheaper exhaust systems, louder, etc. but Akrapovic is the best of the best. It will be a full titanium system and the fitment will be as good if not better than OE.

It should be available by the end of mid to late November.

Sounds awesome. Will this exaust system cause warranty issues i.e. denied claims? Will it cause error codes?

The 2018 & 2019 X3 M40i's had good sound and lots of burbles but the 2020+ got neutered as well.

Without the ability to see the future on this particular exhaust, the short answer is no. It should not cause any warranty issues or cause error codes. Most of those issues you refer to come in the form of a tune that changes ECU parameters such as fuel, timing, and boost.

That's interesting and just shows it's not BMW's "intention," it's them complying with noise ordinances.

I paid 6500 for mine on my F82. 10 g's seems a bit steep to me for what the last model cost. 8 would be more practical which is still very expensive. Their exhaust always looks better then they sound. LOL. Take a bunch of pics before you install it. Least you can show people how nice it looks

Yeah it'll all be software-generated. There is not much an exhaust manufacturer can offer that audio companies can't do themselves.
