not the most scientific video and no instrumented times... but good on them for putting it together before carwow

if thomas didnt have initial wheelspin, looks like could've kept up with RS5.. carwow had a perfect launch got 3.66 sec to 60, RS5 is no faster than that.

very impressive roll race domination for "503hp"

The RS5 absolutely crushes the M4 from a dig, which means that advertised 3.9 time is complete rubbish (and Carwow did an instrumented test where it did 3.9 in the soaking wet). Add to that my anecdotal experience of test driving one yesterday, where the entirety of the experience was "meh" EXCEPT for the launch, which took me by surprise and actually knocked the wind out of me. That RS5 is in the 3.5-3.6 range for sure.

However, the M4 beats it from a roll, no contest. So if the xDrive hooks up the same as the Quattro system (big if), there's absolutely no way this thing doesn't pull close to M5's advertised numbers in the 0-60. Completely insane.

Edit: C&D tested the RS5 at 3.5 to 60. I'm betting the M4 xDrive will do it in 3.3. Seriously.
My thoughts exactly. I managed a 4.01s in my M340i Touring which supposed to be 4.5s. M4 with AWD is definitely low 3’s.

oh this was totally posted already lol sry mod pls delete mine in the video/photos section

it was subtle but i noticed thomas had some wheelspin off the line (you could kind of hear it) ... if it was a more perf launch car would've kept up with rs5 I think

The M3/4 with XDrive will easily walk away from their Competition. BMW of course understates their power figures so this isn't surprising

I'm able to get 4.9 out of my 330i. It's insane how much BMW underrates their claimed times.

I mean isn't the M5 already quicker than the E63 and RS6, Competition or not? I know it destroys the RS6 so it's not going to be a surprise once there is a M3/M4 with xDrive to drag race.

Why did Chris Harris say in his M4 review that the Mercedes is 4 cylinder, why is everyone saying that? Its a V8 right?

Very well said. 0-60 drag races give automotive journalists something to write about and while regular buyers consider these metrics for a brief moment.

Not going anywhere.

4 Cylinder or not it's going to have 650 HP+. The AMG 4 Cylinder motors generate 400 HP+, with the electric motors generating 200 HP+ you are looking at a rocket ship. Mercedes didn't spend 10 years in F1 perfecting hybrid powertrains for nothing.

As much as I would love to say I don't care about 0-60 times, there is something to be said about knowing you can blow 99% off cars out of the water at a stop light.

Sure you could say why not buy a Tesla, but when you can get an internal combustion car, that handles like a champ, and can do 0-60 in less than 3.4s - it's just fun!

I will bet that the M3/M4 AWD will do 0-60 in 3.2-3.3s s and with a little tune will drop below the 3s.

I don't think it's going to fail. It's still going to be competitive in the segment. The issue is the perception of having a hybrid 4-cylinder. That's it. I'm sure they took a little bit of their know-how from F1 and applied some of it to the next-gen C63, even if a little bit.

They should rename it. Blasphemy still being named after a 6.3 V8 when it's basically just a Prius now with a lot of bhp.

I think mercedes knows their customers better. For all the car euthusiasts who complian about the 4 cylinders are actually not the potential customers of a C63. I don't think the current V8 makes it fun to drive, and most people who go with C63 because they want a luxury sedan which can smoke other cars on the freeway and win a traffic light race. I am pretty sure the 4 cylinder will do it.

How about from one of those F80 owners who says G80 is a pig and probably not faster since 400 extra pounds, not as sharp, CH wasn't enthused, M5 wannabe etc etc lol. That would make for some good entertainment....
