I'm average size, 5'11 and 180.

I sat in the bucket seats for the first time the other day, and while they look amazing, they just don't have the comfort needed for me. It's a pain to get in and out of as well. When I'm driving, I want to be able to move my legs around a bit, not have my thighs together the entire drive. Reminds me when I had my Bride racing seat back in the day.

Long story short, fiance and I have both agreed that bucket seats are definitely a no-go.

lol a normal 5'10" 165lbs...gtfo. No wonder the carbon bucket seats are comfortable to you. My bull mastiff weighs almost as much as you. At that size I'm surprised you didn't just get the carbon buckets. That was the consensus from everything i read before the release was exactly that. For smaller guys the carbon bucket seats would be perfect and for anyone else good luck.

To those who have the carbon bucket seats:

With a hump in the seat of your crotch don't you rub across that when you move your legs from gas to brake?

To be fair, years ago I did not understand buckets, then I got seat time in a lot of cars and now understand you always get buckets without hesitation and deal with all consequences because buckets are

Let me start by saying I could have "lived" with them had the M3 I bought had them. I did not want them as I have a GT3 with Porsche Carbon buckets and that is enough.

However, I never got the chance to sit in them until a friend got a M4 with them and I finally spent time in the seats.

They are not as bad as I feared but my body type ( wide-shoulders) would have been tested over a period of time. They are very comfy once you drop in.

I have a friend who makes bolster protectors for Porsche CF Buckets and are a must for our seats. I think these will need them as well. I also don't like the loose fitting fabric in the center I am seeing on them , it would bug me over time.

But, you have to sit in them first, a must.

Sorry, I should have been clearer, he only makes them for Porsche seats. He says after looking at the M ones that he cannot get the seamless OEM look he strives for. But these are as high as my Porsche ones and no way I would own these without something! The aftermarket hopefully will answer that need ASAP.

Im 6'2 190lbs and theyre no issue for me. The middle CF piece does not bother me at all. I sit with the bolsters in the widest position but i can see how it could be bothersome to people 200lbs+ as it could poke your back while driving.

So when you are going from gas to the brakes you do not feel the cumbersome hump?

Anyone located in the NYC metro with the buckets that would allow me to try them on for size? None of my local deals have any inventory for me to experience in person. thx!

They should be getting them in soon. I would definitely sit in the sports bucket seats before ordering them.

Is nobody bothered by the lack of lumbar support in the buckets? That is my main reason for planning to get the standard seats. I'm 6' tall and about 175lb and fit fine in the buckets but I'm worried my back won't be happy during a long drive. The G80 will be my daily. I love the look of the buckets though.

I was lucky enough to sit in the buckets a few days ago. I’m 5’7” 160. They are amazingly comfortable and significantly easier to get in and out of versus the Porsche buckets that I have currently. I think it’s because the Porsche buckets sit lower down in the car so you have to haul yourself up and out more. The BMW seats took no additional effort to slip in and out. This may also be that I’m very used to the technique employed in the Porsche buckets over the years. I’m very happy I ordered the buckets for my 6MT. I had a sense that the center hump would not interfere with shifting though I was in a competition M4.
