The g80 looks so boxy next to the f82. It's a really rough looking car.

Again, yes the interior is next level. I think the g8x is going to come down to use case. If you want the newest bmw to daily drive and do touring, that’s the car to get. If you want to clout chase with IG followers and straight line speed, the g8x. If you want to do canyon roads and twisties the f8x platform is incredible.

I don’t think this new design is going to age very well and it saddens me that THIS is likely the last Fully ICE m3 we’re going to get.

Lastly, that all said it’s clear there are individuals on this board and in general this new design resonates with. I for one am not one of them but if you are, I think it’s going to be a great car to drive and better than the f8x in some ways and not in others as with any new platform
So you're assuming the G8X won't canyon carve better than the F8X?!?

Look at an old photo of an e46 parked next to an e39 5 series and you'll get a good idea.

The G80 is the same overall length as an e39, although it's 4 inches wider and has a 1 inch longer wheelbase!

The M2 is very similar in length to the e46, but similar to the G80 is 4 inches wider but has a 1 inch shorter wheelbase.

The better idea is to park my e30 next to the G80, I pulled up next to a G20 at the service station and the size difference was hilarious... hard to believe this is still a 3 series

Mercedes, Audi, etc. all have grown about the same as BMW.

What makes the f82 look better is not the mods, it's the wide sports car look. The G80 has a tall grill which visually makes the car look more tall and boxy than it actually is... let's face it, on sports car both design and physics want it to be wide and low ... the tall grills are for SUVs and unfortunately it landed on an M3 for some reasons... making the car looks dated and clumsy.

Old one is definitely better.
My wife said that she would not get into the new one and it looks nasty in a bad way.

M4 looks ancient and soft. The G80 looks so much more aggressive.

True, but that was a quick find pic, and only the light graphics changed with LCI, this was more to show the front...so still much fairer than moded and stock

And IMO, this is for both the first year model, so non-lci to non-lci, there also will be a lci of the g80...

This is very true in pictures/videos, but in person, in my opinion at least, it has the right proportions and looks wide, sporty & aggressive!

Not sure if you've seen it in person or not but that's my observation. A drop and a set of more aggressive offset wheels (or spacers on stock wheels) will finish it off in my opinion.

Yeah, especially in the front shot with the two of them side by side the G80 looks as "charming" as the pumped up, but of limited intelligence, guy from the gym that thinks all people care about are his badly developed and out of harmony muscles...

No matter how many creases, sharp cuts and out-of-place lines they throw at the G80 to desperately make it look like it makes a statement, (why would THE reference sports sedan need to make a statement as if it was Hyundai's new entry in the class??) it won't change the fact it's such an eyeshore simply because someone took all rules of design, harmony, continuity, evolution and take a big no.2 on them just to make some noise. It's wrong at the front, it's wrong at the side, let's not get started. And I can't imagine how much worse it will be when all the M-Perf bits are thrown at it on top

Preference is subjective all-right, but what our eyes perceive as beautiful and harmonic isn't, it is scientifically proven why very particular ratios and proportions work so much better than others.

Honestly I thought the G80 was just an ugly car in isolation, but next to a F80/82 it's only more evident how hopeless it stands against its predecessor (And no, the lowered look and mods don't affect this, in fact they take away from the car imo but it is already so good it's hard to ruin it even with these mods). It's the perfect car for loud attention-seekers though, it's no coincidence why every annoying "YT influencer" has announced they'll be getting one, i'm sure it'll excel in that department.

G8X looks like absolute garbage next to the F8X. People who think otherwise are blind - or have bought into BMW's design ruse.

Agreed, the G80 should avoid any more family photos with its predecessors that's obvious!

A 4000 lb. GTR will smash on an F8X in the canyons. That said, configuration of the G8X will determine the true weight.

The size difference looks even bigger than the e46 vs e39 comparison I suggested, but is similar:

All cars have become bigger, but they don't have to. I often smile at the owners of old large sedans lamenting the death of them, when a VW Golf is now as big as a mid/large family car from the 1980s.

The M3 grew exactly 12" in 19 years (from the debut of the E46 to the G80). It really could be far worse.

The F82 has a dynamic elegance that the G80 completely lacks. Purely in terms of design, this is a clear step backwards. Simply not beautiful.
