Tested: G82 M4 xDrive hits 0-60 in 3.07s (stock)!

After a few attempts in different conditions covered in my thread I managed a 3.07s in my M4 xDrive today, using 4WD Sport mode. This car is insane!

Maybe those who answered awd in the awd vs Xdrive poll may want to reconsider. Yeah yeah I know, it’s not all about 0-60… best $4100 I ever spent.

Congrats, that's the time range I was expecting. Consider the X3M is 7-800lbs heavier and are in the 3.5-3.8 range, I see 2.9 being very possible.

This is based on a phone app, correct? No disrespect, but I don't believe these are as well-calibrated as something like a VBox unit (and phones don't sample GPS coordinates/velocity nearly high enough for accurate readings over short durations like this).

But no doubt, these launches look very aggressive. Impressive.

Dollar for dollar on M4 options, it is definitely, without a doubt the best $4100 that can be spent.

The car itself as a whole is improving its case as the best $109K I'm going to spend when it arrives. It's still a lot and will be the most expensive car I'll have ever bought, but considering the field of cars at that price point, I'm happy at the value per dollar extracted.

Actually Car and Driver tested the X3M Comp at 0-60 in 3.3 seconds! Granted they will probably get the M4 xdrive under 3.0 seconds with the way they test them.

5-60 is a different story at 4.6 or 4.7 which just shows how long it takes for turbos to get going in normal conditions (guessing M3 will be similar), problem most turbo engines have.

Its MSRP is at 99,200 or so, but it's 109 out of my pocket after sales tax. Every option except the following - no carbon bucket seats, no seat ventilation, no carbon ceramic brakes, no shadow-line headlights.

Oh and there's $5K for individual paint so that's where the price bump comes in.

I timed the video from the moment he launches till he hits 60 and I got exactly 3.07s. Add in fraction of a second for pressing stop on the stop watch and he's probably faster.

I believe a vbox reading would have even better results.

it uses Draggy which is a separate physical device with sensors and GPS akin to a VBOX. The results are accurate based on what I've seen compared to other VBOX's

Amazing! Though I am cringing at the fact the car only has 200 miles in the odo. What did the manual say about passing 5K RPM?

But if anything, a properly broken in car may perform even better.

Well, that depends. If you live in a snow zone and want to daily it then I think it's probably a terrific option.

If you are not going to drive in snow, it's a mixed bag of pros and cons. Extra traction is a pro if drag racing, but how many people do that? On a road course it will help coming off the corner but it adds a few hundred extra pounds which has a real impact on track and on consumables too. And handling will feel different unless you turn off the stability control completely and have just the rear drive; but then you still have extra weight.

Can you use the 10 stage traxtion control in rear drive mode with xDrive?

That 3.3 is with rollout, real-world is 3.5-3.8. based on this M4 run, it was 2.9 by car and driver standards.
