Am I right in thinking the F-series M3/4 have fixed rear callipers? I'm not a brake expert but isn't a move to floating a step in the wrong direction in terms of design and braking performance?

There should be no compromise on brake calipers for such a premium car. And I also hope they don't repeat the same mistake with the visibility of the exhaust belly. I suspect the bumper and rear splitter will be built over to conceal it

Given how these test mules and leaks go, I think we will have much better pictures in the next 2 or 3 months. The model pictured so far doesn't have flared wheel arches, no M rear view mirrors etc etc

M2C is a butt ugly car in fact all of the 2 series are. The 1M is just a cooler car IMO.

They already do look different. The M3 is a meaner more aggressive looking platform despite having 4 doors.

The M3 will use the new design format to be introduced with the next generation 4er.

Can’t wait to see you try and spin this one. Perhaps it will somehow relate back to the awesome 2 series minivan...
It's has become de rigeur to dismiss the Active Tourer but intruth.
The Active Tourer has been especially healthy profit wise that has contributed and enabled all number of projects to be assisted across the entire Group.

The arrival of UKL based BMW shared with MINI has enabled MINI to be profitable since its modern conception. The MINI profits were virtually non existent and money was made back by the available to personalise with accessories.
UKL based MINIs/BMWs have exceeded projected targets for 600,000 units.

Add the upcoming F40 1er and 2er Gran Coupe for further success.

The costs shared with BMW now show alongside with the profits from personalisation programmes.
Now there is strong debate but no final decision with Mercedes/Smart to assist BMW/MINI For future models.

Is the ass udder healthy for profits too?

Couldn’t you geniuses at least paint the damn thing? I mean, you are swimming in money from the minivan sales, so....

Audi RS and AMG have been doing it for many years already and on more expensive vehicles. Grotesque.

To use fixed calipers with electronic parking brakes they either have to go for most super car designs by using dual calipers or the new Ferrari's brembo rear caliper which includes epb.
Either way the cost would be too high for a 3 series.

It is possible that this "tradition" gets broken with the G8X gen. BMW might elect to bring more differentiation between the M3 and M4. The fact that quite a few M3 mules have been spotted but no M4 mules have (unless I have missed them) is an indication that the M3 will be released ahead of the M4, which consequently leads me to believe they will likely not share the same front end treatment.

EDIT: just read further in the thread that Jason26 is stating the opposite.

Sorry if it has been answered in a prior post.
The Giulia QV makes 510hp with 2.9L. What makes you think BMW cannot get that output from 3.0L without water injection ?

So because of that the G80 your saying will have that muffler in those pics? A car that is more than a year away from being on the street?

Every G80 mule has had a muffler that’s bigger than the F80 and more along the lines of the M2C.

They releases the M2C with the eyesore, they’re testing the G80 with the eyesore, so it’s reasonable to believe that the final product will have the ass udder as well.

As cntzl said earlier in the thread, I too am hopeful that the M2C was an aberration with the udder, but that’s likely optimistic to the point of insanity.

It is reasonable to believe that this sort of muffler is here to stay - it's relatively prominent on the E92 M3, more so on the F80/82, and even more so on the F87C...and now again on the G80.
Muffler? Who even needs them anyway

Front hood lines look really aggressive, same with side skirt and body panels.
F80 is the best looking sedan ever, IMO, E90 was also a great looking sedan....liking the G80 as well, I have trust that it will continue the aggressive sedan looks of it’s predecessors.

Negatives - Muffler/exhusat needs to be hidden/moved, no way that is acceptable, I found the F80 muffler a little too revealing for my taste and this is MUCH worse. The fenders? That attached piece needs to go, it is an eyesore.

6MT in each model RWD/AWD
