I’m definitely in the minority but I thought it looks pretty cool on the chalk ones show in the photos. I’d even consider ordering it but I do think it’s something that would get old after a bit and is just a novelty.

They’re cool and while it would have been nice to have them from the beginning, I wouldn’t trade having my car for 2+ years for shiny buttons.

Pretty sure you’ll be able to order the buttons once we know the part numbers and just swap them out. It’s pretty simple.

So would I. I tried tracking down part numbers but it was hard to find LHD versions.

To others, I said I would have paid for it if available. I think it looks more upscale, and has been an option in Europe since the G8X was released.

They look and feel way nicer than the standard black plastic buttons.

The prices on the standard US ones, arent too bad. You can switch them out for the galvanic, when theyre available. Or, like was already mentioned, you can just get the EURO set.

In the US it wasn't an easy check the box option though. You had to jump through hoops to get the dealership to know these were available. In other markets (like in Canada) it was part of a package and clearly itemized.

True but still possible to order basically any option from any other market and it's not even jumping through hoops it's a simple form dealer fills out and sends an email with it attached

That's usually a lot to ask (and get) from a dealer lol, but yes I'm aware of the process. Most people aren't aware of this though and order only what's available on the configurator.

Find another. When they realize they're losing customers maybe they'll be more inclined to do better. My dealer will facilitate out of state deals to the point you never even need to go to the dealership if you don't want to. (Pcd is a given, they'll arrange shipping for the car to your house for a fee, heck they'll even try to route the car to your dealership for pickup if it's a lucrative enough deal for them). My guy specifically will send a hundred emails until you're satisfied because all it takes is you writing an email and him pressing "forward" and your request/ question has been sent off to the proper people.

I'm trying to work with a dealer local in my home state.

But I wonder what the wait time, deposit amount and markup is at your dealer 🤔
Not having to go in sounds great but I'd go in if needed

I guess I'll never understand automotive trends. People pay extra for "shadowline trim" to get rid of silver exterior trim, silver accents in the headlights, chrome exhaust tips...but they are disappointed when they can't get silver-coloured window control switches?

Never any markup unless it's a special car like a cs then idk what they do.
As far as wait time if it's not a special order (full individual) most likely 2-3 months. To put into perspective I did a 2022 m5 ordered in August delivery set for early dec., port crashed it had to order another in Jan delivered in April (this was with stop sales for chip shortages and both were pcd). Now my full individual (fully custom 1 of 1 m5) ordered July 7th. Delivered pcd June 1st. (Yes that was 11 months) due to the custom interior color that was never offered in a 5 series. If you want his info to text him yourself shoot me a message

Funny enough you'd be the second person from Nashville area I'd be referring (the last one bought an m5)

Oh and in my car they definitely feel like metal so not sure how they are finished. They get just as cold as the door pull and feel noticeably different from any of the plastic controls in the car.
I always thought the door pull was plastic as it doesn't get as cold as the silver part of the shifter.
