possibly, but people go crazy when companies release an intake that nets 20hp* 20hp is 20hp regardless how you swing it. Its an appreciated offer from BMW.

yea it doesn't make sense, if that where the case why only for xdrive and not RWD comp. BMW has their reputation on the line and people day 1 will put in on the dyno to see if its true. BMW will never pull a stunt like that knowing people will test it.

Put on dyno and and see what???
You can put two identical vehicles on the same dyno and they may read 20HP difference at 500+ HP (+/- 4%). Heck, every single dyno we saw so far shows that 503HP number was very conservative. And so is probably 523 for the LCI.

Of course...I cannot wait for the new owner feedback that they can "feel" extra 20HP vs their 3-year old traded in M3CX

I don't know whether you can feel the 20 hp, but it's hardly believable to me that BMW is simply advertising a higher figure here, even though the engines are 100% identical (incl. SW).

Don't know why people are complaining about a 20hp bump lol, I feel like there would be ZERO complaints if BMW just kept it the same. People don't realize it's a 4% bump in HP for an LCI, this isn't a new model by any means and a bump like that is still good!

Luckily saw this thread the day my order went through for a '24. Waiting an additional 2-3 months for this is a no-brainer for me..

If I’m not mistaken, the HP bump is high in the rev range - something like 5800 rpm - so it will make a difference in how the car feels to pull to red line…. It’s probably a SW change? When I took my comp in for its break-in service, they offered dinan upgrades to +100 hp so it can be done via SW as always.

Agree though that 20 hp bump is more of a marketing gimmick
Will to disregard your ignorant comment, I probably own more BMWs than you have. You’re probably one of those people who just bought one. Please don’t make stupid comments like this.

1. Compliance, if you're talking about suspension compliance, you are 10000% off base here. The G series cars are light years beyond what you get in previous M cars in terms of performance & compliance on the suspension side. They are comfortable enough to drive all day and absolutely kill it on a race track. I've had a G82 with two wheels on the rumble strips at 120+ going into corners. Simply put, outside of a Porsche GT car, Z06 Vette, and a Viper, there's very few cars that can have that compliance on track, yet you can cross country a G8X without a hiccup.
2. Handling is top notch. Again, either street or track, the G8X cars deliver more than any other BMW I've ever driven. Car stays flat and inspires confidence when you're pushing it. Again, this is a street car first that you can track and not a track car that you can drive on the street, AKA any Viper.
3. Feedback through the wheel is great, sure in some modes it is artificial but it's not like you don't know what the wheels are doing. I've driven cars that lack any sort of feedback and its disconcerting, there's plenty of feedback in these cars.
4. Better braking system? I thought the braking on these cars would be crap with the rear being a floating single piston caliper, boy was I dead wrong. If you ever take one on the track, you'll know that if you stand on the brakes, these cars stop, like right now. Can't get better braking, hell you can even [...]
All the above!! I am part of BMW CCA North America. If you just purchase one, don’t get your feelings out bent out of shape, you have to realize driving the older generation BMW compared to now.. what you just purchased. It’s a digital computer.

That’s hard truth..

What is it with the infatuation with old bimmers? I had an E46 M3 - it was alright, that's it, alright. I STILL have my E36 M3. It's a fucking joke compared to my G8X in every aspect I can think of except cheaper insurance and no car payment. Stop putting these trash cars on this pedestal they don't deserve to be on.

Nostalgia is a powerful drug.

The e46 was on rails with road feel but relatively slow. Loved that car though. e9x M3 was a screamer that introduced quite a few advancements and user modulation with EDC, steering, etc. F80 was a hot mess but engineering perfection. G80 in manual form is basically a refined, muscular e39 M5 without the road feel. G80 comp and x drive are insane dual use daily and track weapons.

My advice is to appreciate the uniqueness without being too nostalgic.

I don't disagree that they all have qualities that are unique to them. The E36 M3 is light and has fantastic intake noise. The E46 M3 had a lot of feel and handled well for that period, it's also a looker. There is a lot to love about the E9X and the F8X. But to say that unless you own an E-chassis car you own a "digital computer" (whatever that is), is laughable.

Yea it’s all just nostalgia and old guys saying “they don’t make them like they used”. People remember having something they were excited about when they were young and see as superior.
Sucks to get old that’s life but things move forward….

Yeah the other trap is looking at a car like the 911 and saying it’s remained more or less the same but improved while retaining the things that made it special. The M3 is unique in each generation and that should be appreciated.

Silly question.. a 20hp increase in minuscule compared to what the HP already is. So without a wholesale redesign of the engine, how did BMW achieve this monstrous bragging rights increase. Did someone one sneak a copy of Bimmercode?

They both make over 523 hp stock, so there would be no legal case for misrepresentation. In the case of the CS and CSL, BMW is advertising an increase in boost from 24.7 psi (Comp) to 30.5 psi. I haven't seen any information regarding an increase in boost for the LCI Comp. Doesn't mean there is isn't one though.

No, on the ordering guide for the 2025. Just want to see how they can be ordered. I keep hearing they’re an option. I want to see how that turns out. Are they standard, are they $2,000 for the headlights and tails, for an upgrade? Are they in a package? Are they going to be back to adding them into the Exectuve package, like 2021? Just curious. I know the prices are still going to be high, at the parts counter.

The press release shows it's a S58B30T0 which I believe is the same as the current pre-LCI cars.
