The only time I ever paid for a tint was when I had it reduced from the previous Schmoball who did a ridiculously dark one (that wasn't even legal) on an older car I bought years ago. I put the Min tint on because I had black interior/exterior on that one, nothing exciting, and it sorta went with the black-on-black style the car had going. However, I've never been interested in them overall. I'd rather see the cool interiors these M cars that I've owned have (and recently a 911) while walking up to them, and allow others too as well. If that makes me uncool well then just call me Heat Miser

Yeah, same here. My past BMWs (including my '11 E92 335 that looked something like that) They were all 20% +/-. Then 35% on the next few.

Now it's either no tint or 50% max ceramic. Looking for just heat rejection. I did put 30 or 35% ceramic on my wife's U11 just to match the rear windows, otherwise it would look off. Visability is questionable on rainy or dark winter nights with Lasik.

Yeah, I guess it’s part getting old, part growing up.(Although I still nail it occasionally at green lights) 🤣

I always tint my cars for functional purposes. Don’t care about cool factor. Heat rejection and privacy were my reasons.

My cars at the shop getting tint as we speak. Looks better, keeps things cooler, doesn't kill the interior plastics and leathers as fast. I love me a good functional and aesthetic mod.

Do any of you tint fans ever think the tint is difficult to see through at night? I know in past cars with tint I sometimes felt like it made navigating turns more difficult. Could just be me. If so, what % is reasonable for keeping good visibility VS. UV blocking function?
I'm taking delivery of a G82 next week and considering tint.

20-30% is pretty useable at night. Also I've seen that different tints look different at the same %. Ceramic vs Non-ceramic for example, so YMMV.

I'm going to ceramic tint my windows 25% I think it is a good balance. What did you all tint your back window?

I tint mine not much darker than the legal limit here in Texas, and it always looks clean and uniform.

You can still see the other windows in the car, but it's not super dark, and the added heat rejection is a must here.

Honestly it really depends on your eyesight (age?) and how/when you use your car. I'm in my early 40's and used to always tint my cars under 20% and be completely fine driving at night. Now I find myself second guessing lane changes on darker highways, and when making turns (left turns especially) when the lighting isn't great. That's why I'm opting to go with 35% now. FWIW I get ceramic tint so clarity isn't the issue.

It’s definitely much more difficult esp if you’re younger

I went with a Photosensitive tint on my Frog. Spectra something, it's supposed to get as dark as 35% ceramic tint, and it does visibly get darker as the sun intensity rises.. It is great at night, the best tint for night driving I've had. However, I don't think it's quite as good during the day as the 35% tints I've had in the past and I haven't been happy with the heat rejection despite the product's claim of superior heat rejection.

If you do a lot of night driving, it might be worth looking at.

Did you mean older?😉 I could see like an eagle through tint when younger but as I’ve aged it’s harder and harder for me to see through tinted windows. Luckily only about 2% of my driving is at night.

As others have mentioned tint is great for protecting your eyes, interior, controlling temp etc.

I bought my previous M4 used and it had 20% tint. I found that too dark at night. My current Dravit ‘24 M4 Comp X-Drive has 35% tint all around…it looks great, is functional and visibility is great at night

I have no issues with 30% at night. In a previous life, I had a station wagon as a work car with 5% on everything behind the B-pillar. That was certainly a problem at times.

This. I never tinted my cars when I lived up north. Moved to Florida and after suffering through a year of no tint, I started realizing the value of tint. I personally don’t like blackout tint, but it needs to be dark enough to block the Florida heat. I’ve found 30% to be the perfect balance…..dark enough to work, but light enough to see through it at night. 40 to 50% tint work too, but I’ve found the heat blockage isn’t quite enough for Florida. I hate getting service loaners because I have the constant heat and am now adverse to the fishbowl look.

Yeah, 5% and the like tint was never "cool" imo. Always looked tacky to me. I prefer subtle, functional, 35+ or more.

A ton of people complaining about tint laws. I think there needs to be a balance. You should be able to tint to assist with heat rejection/UV issues but allowing to tint to low levels can be dangerous.

I would not want to be a police officer walking up to some car with limo tint not knowing who our what sits on the other side of the glass. I realize there are precautions they can take but I understand why they don’t like super dark tint on cars.

Just my opinion.
