I wish BMW would just end the pain and release actual pictures of the car. That render is nice but doesn't match up well with the pictures that have been released to date of the parts. It's like a "I'll try to make it look better than reality" render.

That front end is still hideous.... side is plain but rear is okay. Overall not as good as the F82 design.

If that's what the rear bumper and diffuser looks like for the production car that's awful. WTF are those holes in the center of the diffuser for? Increased airflow around the the even bigger diaper muffler conveniently left out of the render? And painting it body color?

So now I dislike the hood, front and rear bumper of the car... sick start. Sucks because I've loved BMWs M3s since I was 13 because of their designs but I can't love a car looking like this (personal taste). Now I have nothing to look forward to in BMW's line up other than the future M2 and if its anything like the 2er grand coupe, I wouldn't consider that car either. When do the H80/82 renders start?

That grill looks like something that was designed in the 1930s with the intention of looking futuristic

Give it time. People will eventually get used to this new look.

Then the old kidneys will look too small.

I highly doubt there will be holes in the diffuser.
If anything, the rendered diffuser is based off of the leaked photo of the M3's rear seen inside the factory.

In this image you can see that the metal plating on the floor is being reflected by the diffuser.
So the person who made this render most likely mistook those for small holes instead.

Good call.

If you magnify it, it's clearly the reflection.

Surprised thy didn't catch that.

Now if only that kidney grille was also a misinterpretation of a reflection...

Honestly, after seeing the 4 series concept (which I thought looked stunning - grilles and all), I'm totally used to it now and the small grilles look dated to me - particularly on the E92.
That’s puzzling to me. I mean, how could someone spend so much money on a car that he/she didn’t fall in love with at first sight ? M-cars are supposed to be kind of dream cars, not cars that you learn to like because you have no choice or because your neighbour has bought one.

Just look at what happened with the M340i. Or well, the G20 in general.
When that model was first revealed, people were throwing fits about the new grille, and the lights, and all sorts of things.

They were making the same threats of never buying another BMW. But now you see a tonne of people who actually bought a G20 and love it to bits.
They're all raving about how good it looks and how great it is. Hell, even the nay-sayers of the G22/G8x are suddenly praising the G20 for its looks.

So based off of that, why couldn't you believe that it could happen to the G22/G8x as well?

The dissent over the G20's looks got nowhere near the current level of the disdain for the G80/G82. I'm not convinced we can use that to predict whether people will come around to the G80's looks.

I'm not saying we can predict it. I'm merely suggesting it's not implausible.

Agreed. And this was discussed in detail. Whoever spent a fair amount of time making this render must not be on here lol.

Absolutely, infact I think it’s pretty bland overall. Also it’s grilles are still horrid, especially when they are all blacked out.

Can't argue tastes, I suppose.
I, for one, think it looks better than the F30 it replaces. The F30 was starting to show its age a bit in my opinion.

Ahhh I forgot about the people who thought those were holes back when that photo leaked. Definitely where they got that from, good catch

Are we sure the G8X will get the CF roof? Or are we just assuming based on the F8X?

I tend to agree, but M4 shouldn’t look ‘pretty’. Mini, or VW Polo, or Z4 can look pretty.
M4 should look mean and aggressive, and it does.
