No! Scott26 has already confirmed that the grill will NOT look like the 3-Series grill, and that the new grills will be polarizing and large.

IMHO if you look at the M3 aesthetic wise, the design on the M3:
e30 to e36 = HUGE CHANGE
e36 to e46 = HUGE CHANGE
e46 to e92 = HUGE CHANGE
e92 to f82 = SMALL CHANGE (Tbh, f82's front end looks like an updated e92...)
f82 to g20 = SMALL CHANGE (Again, looks like the f82 got a LCI on the front end...)

I highly doubt those grills are connected through the license plate area. If you look at other M cars there is a massive, separate intake with intercooler below the plate, with kidneys above the plate.

As for the horizontal stripes, these may be a grille or they could just be we are seeing the intercooler/ radiator through the mesh. There are various styles.
