Have to agree on the raw feeling experience. But, I bought a used 2017 M3 Comp with all possible Performance Parts and fully loaded and on long trips with my family I appreciate all the possible warning stuff and extras. In raw feeling it does not match up with the M3 CS, which I drove twice but as a "compromise" it is very very good. On the track it is fast, too.
There was a huge price difference (60k eur) to the 2018 CS, so the CS was not an option for me price wise.
Lets hope the G80 captures some of the feeling of the F80/82 CS models

How often do you track your M4CS?

Driving every M3 I have to say that each new model was a huge difference in improvements.

The only thing I miss is naturally screaming V8 on E90/92

I don’t track it. Combination of living nowhere near a track and insurance for track days being very expensive. I enjoy “spirited” road driving as we have some superb quiet B roads round here.

man, like why are they doing this. I don't see why. RS6 has a nice big grill. but BMW is making it less attractive. You can make an aggressive looking M3 w a big nice looking grill, no need for an ugly looking grill.

We bring you the latest spy pics of the F82 M4 Coupe wearing the same level of camouflage as our last sighting, but this particular M4 shows some of its color through the camo and we could be looking at the new Sao Paulo Yellow color, which we've previously listed among the G80 M3 / G82 M4 colors.

Isle of Man Green is expected to be joined by Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Dravit Grey, Portimao Blue, Tanzanite Blue, Isle of Man Green, Toronto Red, Frozen Brilliant White, Frozen Portimao Blue and Oxide Grey as color options for the G80 M3 / G82 M4.

I've seen both the M3 and M4 in person. The grills are quite interesting. I'm still getting the Alfa vibe from it.

RWD is confirmed with a manual transmission while AWD is only available with an automatic transmission. Also, AWD is not available until July 2021 production.

So if the G8x starts production 11/20 it's only going to be RWD + 6mt? Is the AWD + AT going to be considered the Comp model then?

Any word on a speed cloth option?

That’s quite a lot of insider information, can we assume you work for BMW corporate?

Alfa vibe is not a bad thing generally, do you like it?

I'm hoping it drives more like an Alfa than looking like one. Need some more leaks...

I cannot comment on insider info but my information but it is accurate. I believe M3 will be RWD with 6MT and Automatic however xDrive is ONLY available in Automatic (Same Tech as M5) AWD, Sport 4WD, and 2WD selectability. But xDrive will not go into production until July 21.

I think states with Front License plates are going to make this far really ugly based on the grill design

I did see car with Green color on M3 and the yellow color on M4 comp. both looked good.

Makes sense, BMW likely doesn't see a reason to sell a RWD Auto model when its using an xDrive system that can turn itself into RWD at the push of the button. It does add weight, but its a way for BMW to save and make more money, so makes sense, also aligns with the rumors of the manual being the "pure" model.

As for the front plate, that is one of the aspects I am least excited for. This will possibly be the first ugly M3 for me.

M3 RWD will start production Nov 2020. Possible US Launch for Year end. There also will be a Electric M vehicle coming in 2022-23 based on the i4 which should be a very strong Tesla Competitor.

Between your quoted post here, and your next post a few hours later, I am left with questions that I had thought were settled about the transmission and differential pairings available in the M3/M4. Everything I have read to this point has indicated that RWD will be available only with 6MT, and Auto will be available only with AWD. Not my preference, I would prefer Auto with RWD, but if that's how it turns out, oh well. Won't be the first compromise I have ever made when buying a car.

In your posts you state that RWD cars will SOP Nov 2020, and AWD cars will SOP July 2021. If this is the case, and the consensus of opinion of Auto being available only with AWD is also correct, then that means an 8 month time period after initial production begins during which only 6MT cars will be available. This does not make sense to me. Autos far outsell MT's in all markets. Why would BMW do this? Talk about your weirdly truncated intro.

In your second post however you seem to say that you believe that "the M3 will be 6MT and Automatic", with again the AWD+Auto SOP July 2021.

I do not recall seeing anywhere that an M3/M4 RWD Auto will be produced. Believe me I would be really happy if this turns out to be the case. This scenario would also provide for an Auto car in the initial production. So which is it? RWD Auto available. No Auto available for 8 months. Or AWD Auto available at initial production?

Anyone?

Could you say if the UK market will get the manual version? Recently we’ve only had Competition versions, such as the X3MC.
