So far spy shots of the G87 M2 have a centered lidar which suggest it doens't have the tall grills... So there is still hope. Then again some G80 early mules had the G20 front so... But we are off topic

I commend the effort by IND but there is zero chance I'd be changing the entire front end of my car. If I hated it that much, I'd simply buy something else.

I've gone through the stages with the grille...1. disgust, 2. indifference, 3. acceptance, and 4. enjoyment.

I actually like the grille now and have come full circle from when I first saw it. I think it compliments the car very well and I'd venture a guess that once these are on the street for a while, many others will change their thoughts. Happens with many makes and models of cars when there's a change.

Mr. AMG had a nicely photoshopped G80 in one of his youtube videos. While it looks quite good, I still prefer the new big grill style. Changing to a new grill, front fascia, and possibly modification to ducts and intakes could be quite costly just to make it look 'normal.'

If I just had to have this car right now (pre LCI) I would black wrap the bottom of the grille to take down the loudness. I don't think it looks good but it's not as obnoxious.

The first thing I realized when I saw the big grilles in person is that, while the size of the grilles is unprecedented for modern BMW, it’s actually a reasonable size when viewed within the context of the entire segment. There are multiple cars in the segment alone with even larger grilles.

This is all subjective and it’s fine to hate the direction (though the professional refinement of the execution is undeniable). The vendors that will have the most success catering to these people in these early days of largely new car $80k+ spenders are those who invest properly in the art and design and get the final product to “OEM” aesthetic refinement. I’ve yet to see that from even companies like Novitec, which is unsurprising given that OEM-level design is ultra expensive and time-consuming.

Keep trying!

If you're getting a g8x, you should enjoy the grill to its fullness. While I do appreciate the efforts of IND, it still very much looks like an afterthought and brings even more attention to the front end.

Absolutely. For me, the grilles are tied with the massive exhaust tips for my favorite part of the design. Currently, that not a view shared by others, and that's fine. Looking forward to seeing products that solve this problem for those who don't think like me. However, can IND and others compete with this level of refinement? We'll see.

Like it or not, just wanted to applaud IND for at least tinkering with it and likely producing something that some consumers may enjoy.

I think the coffin-style, horizontal lines at the top are still too in your face for you to cut it off, so it'll look somewhat strange to have a half-open shape that looks unfinished. Ideally, you'd want to have the vertical lines like current and previous BMWs, like this quick photoshop I threw together.

Well done, the car is almost palatable now (at least in the front).

I think a better direction for IND and the rest is to do what they do best and try to make the car look even more aggressive instead of trying to come up with an alternative "OEM" design. Why not take inspiration from the GT3 car?

Looks great, I hate how some want it to look like the F-gen... GO buy a F-gen then if you can't accept change and evolution

I didn't like the overall package and looks of the M8 GC so I stuck with the M6, if you hate the G-generation, then stick with the F

I saw my first blacked out g80 driving to work this morning..

Just as I suspected..

It like like a real menace in the rear view and looks just as mean from the back.

Now just need to see an m4 rolling.

If I didn't love this m2 so much I'd really think about getting an m4

I think this definitely has potential to look cool. In its current state it's probably too aggressive for an otherwise stock car but maybe fill in the mesh areas with a black honeycomb or slats, black out the red parts, and it could be slick.

I agree. Designs spent so much time into this and decided this is the best look.
I am for one, love how BMW engine feels with their transmission all together.
But this look is just hopeless imo, and I will not be looking at their 3 or 4 series indefinitely. Getting used to seeing something that looks horrible doesn't mean it grew in me. More like i kind of got used to seeing it over the years.
Peraonally I hope they admit this was a failed attempt but what the hell do i know. In the end i dont practice car design.
