Huh. I was going to post something in the ship-specific thread about how bummed I am because the car is in GA but still showing "at port" and I guess waiting for a train. It's been 6 days! And then I saw some of these posts here where you guys are delayed for months, and now I don't feel so bad and I know I should just shut up. LOL

Best of luck to everyone.

I’m probably in the same boat no pun intended …maybe this is some ploy by bmw to force me to get winter tires so I can actually drive the car I’ve waited a year + for lol

I've been flipped to "in transit" since last Monday. I called the Genuis hotline and they told me I'm still at port in zeebrugge. Called my BMW dealer and same update, I'm at port waiting for a ship.

so confused with this process

Anyone headed to Galveston VPC, I just spent 5 weeks on the Port in Bremerhaven. 11 long days at the Galveston VPC. The Port Delay into Galveston appears to be 4 to 6 weeks. But some people get lucky with a shorter wait.

Here are some tips:
only the Kline ships are dropping off cars in Galveston.
Don't believe the 3 day estimate when you get to Galveston VPC, the computer automatically assigns a 3 day estimate. I was there 11.
Great webcam views of the Galveston VPC at SaltwaterRecon.com
IN TRANSIT actually means a truck has been assigned
AT THE DEALERSHIP actually means it has been loaded on a truck

Don't expect any acurate details from the Genius line. My dealer did not call down to the VPC until my car had been there a week. I did not get a shipping estimate until I called the trucking company myself. Even that was off the truck loaded up a day later then expected.

The five weeks at Bremerhaven were the worst part of the order process. I had no idea the wait at the port was going to be longer then the production cycle.

Its like you enter a black hole after the car is dropped off at the Port. No information nothing. After a month I got the dealer to find out which port it was at. That cut down on which shipping schedule I had to watch.

In case you didn't read it else where your status will not change to IN TRANSIT until your car has been on the ship for 2 or 3 days. For me it was 3.

Definitely frustrating and deflating. After waiting so long for an allocation (9 months for me), the excitement is off the charts after production finishes. Only to wait an extra 4+ weeks -- at best!

To top things off I was one of the last cars off the ship to be processed. Been waiting at the Galveston VPC for 12 days. Finally got a truck yesterday.

Don't let the Priority One status fool you. Just about everything on the ship is a priority one car these days. They had maybe a few dozen cars going to inventory that got processed after mine.

Oh and this is the cherry on top. The longer you have been waiting at the German port. You are going to be first loaded on the ship. That means you are the last one off and the last to to be processed at the VPC.

Okay so get this: and maybe … hopefully your my ship buddy!

I'm BW 31 just like you
Also a g80 just like you
I've been at bremerhaven since 8/6 and Zeeburgge since 8/22 and Zeeburgge will be my port of exit just like you.

My garage has flipped to in transit for over a week now. After being at port for almost 5-6 weeks! However when I call genius they say nope still at port is the last update of Zeeburgge is the last update they have.

Now the part that may help you out:
I asked my CA to reach out and get more info and from a higher up then even the dealer he was able to find out that I'm scheduled to be on the Grande Cotonou vessel! My pick up was 9/9 weekend so it flipped to in transit that Monday I think! I tracked the vessel on marine time and other sites and the timeline matched up perfectly! So the problem is that Bmw group is reaching out to other shipping lines and vessels that they typically do not use (cough cough, enter Auto Energy vessel that apparently everyone and their moms is on regardless of what their destination port is haha) leading to gaps in their tracking hence why Genius does not have information on it but I did confirm the timeline of the boat and it matched up to what the Dealers higher ups said perfectly. ETA into NJ/NY port is 9/26-9/29! If you pm me I can give more details on confirming your vin and seeing if you might be on this secret Italian ship part of Grimaldi lines that's typically services one of their Africa routes and was brought in randomly to help with the north Europe North America route! I dug around much more and found this is being operated under ACL a sub brand of Grimaldi lines (again not typically used by BMW group) their main ones are WW and like NYK lines and stuff! But found my shipping number and my vin! Also this vessel is not a vehicle carrier but a RORO/container Carrier so it's BOL process is a little bit different but again pm and fingers crossed your on this with me and we get our car soon!!!

I really was not expecting the wait at Bremerhaven to be longer then the production cycle. And the longer you wait at Bremerhaven the longer your wait at the VPC because you are one of the first cars loaded and then one of the last cars off.

One day short of two weeks from when the Boat docked at Galveston.

Keep your hopes up, mine lasted a while at Bremerhaven too. When my car got to the US port, it was delivered in 3 days.

Priority 1 status cars are prioritized to the front of the line

What does that mean? I'm not familiar with the different priorities of cars that you mention.

IIRC

Priority 1 is a pre-sold car
Priority 2 is dealer stock
Priority 3 is dealer stock but no hurry

Oh shit … I would assume priority level would impact times but I think there are other bigger variables that impact more then the priority level for example ship schedules and production delays and etc
