Just to tell you who has experienced delays or being stuck in the production tracker:

My car is now on the shop after staying 61 days stuck in “Awaiting Carrier Assignment”.

I had to escalate it to get resolved… at one point no one knew where the car was…

So, hang in there … your car will make it in the end.

For those who took east coast deliveries, any estimate of how long from Bayonne port to dealership? Dealership is in NJ but trying to plan ahead for PPF shop booking

I know it’s in the original post but wanted to get more recent input if possible

Depends on if you are getting any port installed items. Those that came into NJ on the same vessel as me, the Morning Lynn, that did not have port installed items were processed in less than 48hrs and on trucks to go to dealerships. Myself I am getting MP HAS installed and am still sitting at the VPC. Last I talked to the Genius on Friday they said I was still tentatively scheduled to be released on Sunday, but the HAS work order was still open at that time as well, so who knows.

My car is now at the port and waiting to be loaded in the ship. Any rough estimate on the time for the status to change to "In Transit"?

Like it has been stated multiple times, everyone’s time frame can be different. From the looks of it, currrnt timeline to get onto a vessel is about 4 weeks

Hey guys, does performance center delivery have to be selected at the time of speccing your car, or can it be changed to afterwards? Thank you.

I believe the PCD needs to be committed to before the cars leaves the factory so the car can be consigned to the applicable destination.

Question Good info on ordering

Very detailed explanation of ordering process. A couple of questions as I am preparing to order new 2025 x5 x40i and want delivery to performance center in SC to take advantage of that program.

- why are some dealers not wanting to participate in that program?
- if I get a dealer to tell me they have an allocation, how do I know it is a true statement so I can be confident to then negotiate price?
- is an allocation for specific model or is it for any model?
- when in the process is it best to say I have trade-in?
- when do I provide my trade-in to dealer? On delivery or on entry of order?
- what can I expect to get on discount from MSRP these days?
Thanks for any help on this.

Waiting for my wife's M4 Competition. It went from "Dispatched from factory" to "At the port" and today to "In transit" . We never got any assigned carrier name. What does it means to be "In transit" in this case? Is it in a ship, or is it already in US, over a truck going to the dealership? It has some M Performance parts to install, such as HAS. Is this done at the port on Germany or US?

Thank you.

Not sure if you've already tried, but you should call BMW Genius to get the carrier name.

Thanks for any help on this.
If a CA is unfamiliar with PCD or appears unwilling to help, you can ask the sales manager if there is another CA that can assist. You can also contact dealers out of your area since you’re taking delivery in SC. (Feel free to send me a message if you want my CA’s contact info). In some cases, the dealer may already have an allocation that can still be modified. In other cases, you may have to trust that they’ll get an allocation. Allocation will be for a specific model such as X5, but you can choose any available engine and options. The gurus usually advise not to mention trade until you have agreed on price. You can shop both price and trade-in at more than one dealer. Trade occurs at delivery (when papers signed if PCD). Dealer may or may not be willing to guarantee trade-in price until delivery so you’ll want to discuss this and get it in writing. Trade-in is more cumbersome if using dealer out of your area, but you may do better selling to CarMax or private sale. I don’t know about discounts on X5 since we bought our X5 in 2019, and this is the M3 & M4 forum, but I’m sure there is plenty of info in X5 forum. Hope this helps.

Just called them. This "In Transit" means it's on a ship.

Where is the M Performance parts installed ? I know they are installed at the port. I just don't know if they are installed at the port on Germany or US.

Installed at VPC at Port of Entry. Btw, you can ask BMW which ship it’s on, and then you can track the ship across the ocean.

I placed the order yesterday on an open allocation in the dealer. I got the production number. When I put that number in the bmw online tracker, it says that in production. What does it mean? How can I see list of milestones on online tracker and see the milestone that I am in? Any suggestions? I tried instructions here but online bmw page does not have any links to click through.
