A new generation of M3 should be celebrated by the manufacturer, not cloaked in mystery. Red flag. I couldn't care less if the S58 launches this car into supercar Dragy status if it looks this hideous. |

I've been a car nut for nearly 50 years and this is the first car I hear people ponder modifying the entire front to make it palatable.

The M3 and M4 were displayed this week in a private reveal at M Track Days @ Indianapolis Motor Speedway. All cell phones, cameras, and other electronic devices were not permitted in the viewing space. The M3 was Isle of Man Green with a Kyalami Orange interior. The M4 was Sao Paulo Yellow with a Yas Marina Blue interior. Both had carbon ceramic brake packages and next generation M wheels.

Not the same situation as taking an M3 and making it look more "tolerable", the S owners taking an RS grill is the same situation as 328i or X5 40i owners sticking fake M-badges and M-stripes into the kidney grills when they know that they don't actually own an M-car, they are not trying to "tone-down" the car like prospective G8X owners are, the non-RS/M buyers are looking to boost their ego and actually stand out more pretending they are something that they are not hence why we have the mess that is M-Performance or AMG-Lite.

No, not everyone who currently drives an older style BMW is going to like the new grills, let alone adore them, but a lot of people will. I think is looks mean. Even the grill on i4 looks a hell of a lot better than the chopped off snout of the Tesla 3. So... love and buy it... like it and buy it and an aftermarket grill... drive what you have... or shop around and good luck finding the perfect car. |

We get it, you don't like it. Now quit complaining and just don't get one.
The new M3 is what is, complaining isn't going to change it.

For those of us who like the car we won't have to deal with trolls, clown and jester much longer as their time is about to expire once people start taking delivery of the m3 and m4. I highly thought they have the audacity to go to people thread and continue to do so.

I am a car nut, so I follow a lot of reveals for different cars, BMW has nailed the release and timing of the reveal. Timely bits of information just enough to pass the time and keep things interesting, not having a big gap between reveal and production. I suspect there will be journalists vids up and running right after the reveal. If the car is a great divers car - built to take on the Alpha and not the Audi then it will slowly sway the grille objectors. TBD.

They can hide it through smoke but the front grills will show up eventually. I bet that's the first mod that the owner will do, either replace it or hide it with big plate cover or holder.

While I'm not a fan, you have to be impressed at the fact that BMW really went off course with this front end design.
In a world of homogenous car designs, I welcome the effort. |
