I guess I wasn’t crazy, the noise is still there. It’s not as bad as before but if I hit a good dip, or two in a row, I get the squeak. It is really annoying.

Today I was just turning left into a parking space and it was slightly uneven. Got two squeaks out of it. I then drove around the lot when I left and got it to happen again when not turning (to rule out rubbing the fins).

I have the bottom-up measurement so not sure when to place the isolators this time around.

I jacked the car and noticed a rub mark on the powder coat about a 1/4 turn above the isolator, so I rotated it up a 1/4 turn and will give it a try.

Well that didn’t work. I’m tired of these things already…

I’ll try another adjustment and see if it helps.

Ate you considering switching to something else? I know you have invested time and money in your current setup .

How are your isolators compared to the pics I posted?

Considering it, but not quite worth it yet. I'll see if I can dial it in a bit still.

They were nearly identical. I've since rotated it up about 1/4 rotation, but that didn't fix, so I moved it back a bit, so now maybe 1/8 of a rotation from your spot. We'll see how it does...

I really don't understand how its just the passenger side, that alone doesn't make much sense to me.

Is your photo the driver or passenger side?

It's the driver's side in Pics.

I went ahead and did the passenger side spring again. I noticed the dust boot wasn't sitting flush all the way around the top of the spring. Anything is a culprit at this point, so I was meticulous about the spring seating when I placed it back in and jacked it up. It is seated like it should be this time.

I then, moved the isolator back to the 40.25" or whatever from the bottom, took it for a test drive and so far so good. Just need time to see if it creeps back or not. Every time I think I'm good, I haven't been - but I have a better feeling this time around.

Crossing fingers! Thanks DS_BMW.

Haven't taken the thing out since the test ride. Likely will tomorrow though and will report back.

If this was installed by us, please contact me to get this handled - I have additional isolator kits in stock.

Did you install or a shop? Not saying mine are perfect yet without more testing, but I def had a rubber boot at the top of the spring that was not seated properly. It was sort of folding a bit so the spring was touching the mounting area directly in one spot.

I'll check it out! I had Ben from RG do the install. He measured everything on the dot. Thanks

He’ll take care of you. New isolators won’t do anything but I’m sure it will be resolved. I had the DIY factor

I went to the dealer yesterday to make an appointment and they have those rubber speed bumps. I went over it at maybe 3-4 mph specifically to see if the squeak came back.

What I heard sounded like a combination of the squeak, but with the crunch of those plastic vanes underneath the car. Sounded horrible, but I'm not sure if the noise was really there.

At this point it's like I have PTSD. On certain dips in the road or bumps its like I get tense and expect a noise lol.

On a related note, if you hit an aggressive speed bump - is there "natural noise" (like a hiss-type sound) expected to come from the strut/spring under sudden compression or should it be 100% silent?

Secondly - I'm surprised how those vanes really get in the way on speedbumps. Even going at nearly 0 mph. I guess that's just the life of a lowered ride.

Thanks for listening!

Writing here instead of making a whole thread about it but I have finally had enough of my ast springs - I'm going back to stock for now. I installed the isolator fix. The noise went from the left side to the right side of the car, continuously got worse and louder after coming and going every few days. Having them removed tomorrow.

1000$ later after install costs and springs costs - really disappointed to say the least.

I got rid of my AST's as well. They ended up making so much noise even with the isolators in the correct spot. Switched to H&R and they've been perfect.

I'm sorry to hear folks are still having issues even after the fix... *knock wood* ever since I adjusted the position of my passenger side rubber isolator I've had zero noise.

I had my AST springs removed about 2 weeks ago and it was the right decision. I went with stock rear springs and Eibach front and the car has been great for two weeks and a few hundred miles.

So far so good.
