Looks like they will continue to have little integration of the dashboard and the display itself, continuing the design we have seen on all new BMWs.

Well the G26 i4 is as big as an E39 5 series.
So it probably did get a bit porky.

I assume those aren't the M seats… Bummed to see the shifter gone and also generally not in love with the IX style center console controls. Hmmm. Wheel design overall looks great but seems like they will have at least some haptic buttons on the wheels, which haven't been so great in VWs or Mercs.
Still happy to have my name on the list for an M wagon if it comes to the US, but holding my breath a bit more until we see the final design. |

Removing the shifter on an M car is a terrible idea

Exactly. At least they compensate for the lack of a binnacle with a decent M-badged gear stick... Meanwhile, why does the high sloping bonnet seem so redolent of Merc's new C-class? It's as though hybridisation is leading to design homogenisation.

What's up with the center console vents? The interior design is going away from sports car and more towards "I want to play in a simulator" which isn't great. Let's hope companies change course soon. I think only a few manufacturers are avoiding the dumb trend.

Agree! The midget rear brake caliper doesn't exactly paint a picture of performance.

Still sticking with the tacked on display theme…
And now the full M variants will be losing the gear selector? I thought they previously said that the full M variants would be keeping it.

Hopefully that's not going to be the display. I would be surprised if the next generation didn't integrate it better into the dash.
