Agreed. I have chalk in my builder. Saw Python Green last night in bright sky. Wow, looks much better than online. Not so "Kermit", more like a glittery sna....oh, I see what they did there.

You know how much I love Carmine, and you had one before, but I can see doing it again.

When I finally pull the trigger (someday) on a 911, it'll be Carmine.

Beautiful car as always! Vic, I was thinking of configuring a 992 gts for the upcoming year or year after. Pretty sure I'm a fan of the Gentian Blue for myself. Did you decide to do the 7 speed manual or PDK? I'm leaning towards the PDK for convenience and the fact that my wife says "this M4 is the only exception for me being okay with you driving a manual". I don't know if I can convince her over the next year, or if it's worth it. Happy wife, happy life right? The transmission choice (if I really have a choice) has been difficult for me, and also whether or not to go with the aerokit. What are your thoughts about it?

I guess a TL;DR is what did you decide to spec out for yours? I feel like the Premium package is one of the few unanimous must haves for it. There are so many options that I'm trying not to go crazy!

Thanks Nate, this is a PDK car (my build is on page 1) but it wasnt my exact build. I got lucky as my regular dealer had this car pre set to be an employee lease and the owner over ruled it. Im a big fan of Porsche PDK and its amazing response up and down the gears whether Im using the paddles or just driving it in sport or sport plus.

Im 50/50 on the aero kit- its looks really aggressive but then I feel that big wing belongs on a GT3 or a Turbo S. I like the stealth look of the GTS rear without so Im good. But if the car had it, Id be happy none the less as well.

Thanks for the pointers, Vic! I think I'll do a PDK as well. I've had fun in both types of transmissions, so this won't be an issue. The biggest plus is in the event of an emergency, at least the wife can drive the car (she refuses to learn manual ).You have a very well put together list of options. I was on the fence about the PDCC+Rear axle steering since I've never had a car with that before. I'll have to see if I can't get my hands on one to try out first.

In terms of aesthetics, I'm deciding on Gentian Blue with Club Beige Interior and Chalk Seat Belts, I love the TBII/Tartufo on my M4, and colour palette on the 911 pulls me in too. We'll see what I end up doing for the aerokit. On one hand, I'd hate to break up that iconic shape. On the other hand, the wing looks pretty good and makes it stand out.

Cheers!

I would be very upset if I did not have RAS- its frankly so amazing in parking lots and then a game changer at speed into high speed turns and sharp curves. The PDCC was a bonafide gift as I didnt expect it on the car but Im glad I have it. It makes the car even more planted and actually creates more comfort. I have had PDCC cars and non ones and Im glad I have it. But if you can only have one, RAS is the one to get.

Gentian is a nice color but I like a brighter shade but again, purely subjective when it comes to blues and colors in general. Shark was not my first choice but its so damn bright and eye catching. I still want a Carmine Red 911 again and I know Ill get one

After seeing a few M3/M4 in my small neighborhood ("Hey, my sales guy told me I was the ONLY M4 in the State....ha"), here's a question for Vic55 and others.

How often do you see a Porsche almost identical to yours. Even if different color.

And I know this is purely personal based on emotional and a human's psyche, but what do you think when "oh, WTF, is that, no it can't be, hmmm, it is" your car comes the other way or is at same intersection?

Oh, phew, it's 'only' a Carrera S.
Guards Red? Dude, that was so 991. I have Carmine Red.
Obviously no rear wheel steering, nice try, cheapskate.
GT3, yes, but not an RS.
Etc etc etc.

There are SO MANY variants of Porsche that it would take a keen eye to spot the subtle differences (I wouldn't know), but as an owner/diehard, do you have the same reaction when seeing another M as you do seeing another P?

In real life I have yet to see a G8X in my Adventurine Red color nor Ive even seen a GTS 992 yet. Shark Blue is around as its been on GT3's but its just not seen in reality as much. Of course Ive seen quite a few G8X's but thats to be understood with over a year of deliveries.

So nope, no GTS's yet.

So its been about a week and a half or even more since I drove the G80...(took it out for some rips yesterday) I guess the time really allowed to me to compare the cars from a chassis perspective. Mind you that both cars are lowered but the G80 is dropped "more". Clearly there is more compression and rebound in the G80 than the 992 but thats an obvious statement. The G80 still holds its own though as some minor flex is not an issue for me since the G80 isnt equipped with an option like PDCC plus its fatter.

I guess what Im saying is the G80 is great and so is the Porsche

Yesterday I spent too much time on rennlist and googling "better daily GTS 4.0 vs GT4" and "GTS 4.0 exhaust sound bad" and somehow ended up searching "is the 992 Carrera S slow".
Of course no local cars to demo. Haven't looked at Turo.

Having that back seat would be nice, having a smaller car would be nice, not having a black interior is a given, trying not to speculate on market values the next 6 to 2 years is total paralysis by mental regurgitation..... "maybe a local z06 c8 buyer gets his in late 2022 or early 2023 and can't go through and will sell me his perfect spec for MSRP."

It's a sickeness.

Well in reality those cars span ownership from 2007 to now, so 15 years and 9 P cars. Almost all were around for 2 plus years if not longer except the 2013 991 C4S.

I kept my Porsche 911 GTS 10 years, but I didn't put many miles on it for 6 of them. For driving on the public roads, and especially those down here in Florida, it got boring since there were so few opportunities to get anywhere near redline where the Porsche loves to live.

I'm surprised that you seemed to trade your 911 GT3 and Turbo S so quick though, as I would think they would provide lasting enjoyment. Not sure your new GTS will give you any more satisfaction than some of your other cars could have though.

I'm hoping my '23 G82 comp x coupe will give me what I'm looking for, like a combination of what I most enjoyed when driving my Corvette ZO6 and the Porsche 911 GTS.
